Really don't want to waste someone as fast and skillful as Ally at WB/FB...

Not forgetting the fact he's a liability in a tackle

I think we should try Allahyar at centre half personally

    In goal?

He'd be sic at playing out from the back.

Yes, he's running at about a yellow card every other game at the mo, that's a lot for a winger, as a defender he'd be a penalty waiting to happen, imo.

The difference between Darlow/Connolly and Ebiowei is that we can feasibly keep those 2 next season. They're both surplus to requirements at their current clubs whereas Ebiowei isn't. He's extremely highly thought of at Palace and it's nothing more than a stopgap signing. If you're pushing to get in the top 6, those types of signings make sense but I don't see how they do for us.

We're climbing up the league and we're doing really well and I think a top 10 finish is realistic. I hoped the business we'd do this month would minimise what we need to do in the summer. But that looks unlikely and it looks set to be another summer where we bring in 8-10 players.

What's the difference between playing the position Christie plays and wingback?

He's not tall enough to play as a FB.
How about him playing as the big nasty bugger in DM?

Sorry, don't understand what you're asking or what it has to do with Allahyar's propensity to pick up cards.

You always end up paying more in January though. With our rather mixed bag recruitment in the summer I imagine the conversation was "lets get to the end of the season and then we can work on some long term recruitment"

How are we getting on with the outgoings? It seems to have gone quiet on James Scott etc.

You said he'd be a penalty waiting to happen, yet he played wingback and I can't remember him giving one away. People are saying he's a defence liability yet he was better defensively at WB than Coyle/Elder. The same stuff was bandied about him being a defensive liability before he played at wingback, yet he wasn't.

He's got the perfect physical attributes to be a high level wing-back. He minds me of a young Hakimi when he first went to Dortmund

I don't think he was better defensively than either Coyle or Elder, I think that's re-writing history.

Id actually agree, I think given time and focus on the role a wing back is probably the perfect position for him. But we don’t play with wing backs so that’s not much use for us.

Ah, ok. Really I was responding to the suggestion from some on here that he could play fullback. I think some of his yellows might have been pens had they been committed in the area.
And, like you, I also think he could become a good high level wing-back. He needs to stop picking up cards though!

Under Rosey's system, Christie plays a lot higher up than is expected of a full back
I've always hated Coyle as a wing-back. Defensively, there's lots of space and whenever he's up against a pacey winger/wingback, it's a recipe for disaster.

He’s playing as an attacking full back but still very much a full back and heavily involved in defending in and around the box.

I think you're splitting hairs there. The definition of a wing-back is pretty much an attacking full-back.
