Yep and this has been one of the problems I have with Marsch. Theres no coincidence that Harrison, Klich, Gelhardt and Drameh feel shafted. Mixed messaging, not living up to his word and Joffy fuming that he was promised game time so signed a new contract and has seen only the odd minutes since signing. The camp isn’t as together as portrayed
Klich past it and the other three not first choice through effort and ability. You yourself championed summerville and Gnonto and sinnisterra are better than slow Harrison.Drameh can't even take Aylings place or a slow rasmus.
Agree with most of that but I do think that there is some personal issue with Marsch and Drameh. He has a decent few minutes against Cardiff and then doesn’t even make the next match day squad.
The personal issue was with bielsa and drameh over his Cardiff move. The club weren’t happy at being strong armed. Now… whether marsch has failed to patch it up is another matter… but it wasn’t his issue in the first place. The others… maybe he has oversold to them to get them to stay… maybe he’s made promises he didn’t keep. Maybe it’s one of those where he says keep up the good work and you’ll get minutes… then picks others he thinks have done better. Managers shouldn’t make firm promises to players about game time… if he has, then he’s in the wrong,
You also blamed Bielsa for shafting Gelhardt. Maybe Gehardt isn't the 2nd coming after all. Klichs legs had gone. He was only good for half an hour stints at this level. Dramah had issues with Bielsa and now Marsch has questioned his mentality. Maybe the issue is Dramah. Marsch had called out Summerville for his attitude but Jimmy has palled up with Gnonto and pulled his socks up. Jimmy was reaching his potential until injury. Greenwood was going nowhere but Marsch has dropped him back to midfield and he's turned in to a decent midfield player with a few assists and a superb goal. Not everything is down to Marsch. The door is open, Joffy just hasn't walked through it yet. Hopefully he goes out and smashes it out of the park but the reason Joffy, Klich, Harrison and Dramah are not playing is because they haven't performed well enough either in games or in training.
Bielsa and Jesse are both guilty of stunting and stagnating Gelhardt’s career. If he was getting regular game time in the U21s it would be a bit different. In the last two years I bet he’s not seen 90 minutes of football I guess Bamford is to blame, his injuries are what’s prevented Joffy being spared from the first team bench and available for selection in the u21/23
Emu not arguing about the individual as I know Klich wanted to go in the summer but was told he would play enough to get into the Polish squad. Drameh had a beef with Bielsa but went back to the club feeling he would be leaving in the summer (Marsch said that too) he was asked to stay and fight for his place but only played 21 football a couple of minutes and a part of cup games. Yet again he is asked by Marsch to stay he will play but not even on the bench. Joffy was blatant lies and the kid is fuming. Now Marsch can pick who he wants and yes Bielsa didnt use Joffy but Joffy knew he was a kid learning and no arguments. Marsch is the boss, it’s his team. But if he wants a happy dressing room he’s going about it the wrong way
It's standard at ANY club that the lads playing week in week out will be content and those who don't play will be unhappy. Marsch didn't invent that. He told the players that they should fight for a place in the team. They decided to stay and do that. Was Klich good enough to force himself in to the starting midfield? Yes or No. Is Joffy better than Rodrigo or even Bamford when he was available? Yes or No? Is Dramah better than Ayling or Kristensen? Yes or No? People are calling for Dramah to play after a decent 20 minutes against a Cardiff team defending in their own area. Tom Lees would have looked OK out there. FWIW I hope Dramah gets the nod against Cardiff and let's see him play 90 but he's gonna have to be something special to replace Ayling at the moment.
I think you've nailed down Joffy's problem. In wondering about who he should go out on loan to, I laughed to myself when I thought he'd jump at the chance of going home to his mammy in Wigan. Can't beat home cooking & spending time with your old non-football mates when it comes to re-finding your feet. I'm not laughing now, having properly considered the benefits. Unless he's guaranteed a weekly 90 mins elsewhere, I think Wigan is where he should go. Not sure if he'll ever return, if I'm honest.
Emu you seem to want a Barney with me and to be fair I said in loads of Posts Klich has lost it and should go. My argument is that the manager has promised the player game time to ensure he goes to the WC. As it happens I do rate Drameh as better than Ayling who will let us down with more injuries and yellow cards….. the manager is a lying cnut simple. As I said earlier he can pick who he wants but loses respect of players doesn’t help his cause
I honestly don't want a barney with you. I like you doc. There's nothing personal here. The manager can never guarantee game time. Ultimately the player has to make himself undroppable. Klich had some decent cameos but when he has started his levels drop significantly 2nd half. It is what it is. Klich had to put himself in front of Adams or Aaronson and he didn't. It happens at every club.
I agree. Send him to Wigan. Familiar faces, an easier level and a setup he grew up at. Hopefully that would help him thrive. He has ability. Just needs to Summerville it and grab it with both hands.
Regarding Drameh the current situation is unprecedented....err all our defenders are fit and available. Jesse named four of them on the bench against Villa and it's difficult to fault him for that as Llorente, Rasmus, Firpo & Wober are all currently ahead of Drameh and so what was he supposed to do. Tough luck for Cody but it is what it is and now he'll have to work hard and show some patience.
But Klich seemed to recognise that so asked to leave so he could go somewhere and play enough so he could go to the World Cup with Poland. Marsch said there was no need for him to do that so out loyalty to Leeds and believing his manager’s comments he stayed and probably missed his last chance to play at the World Cup. Marsch could have let him go, it’s no wonder he’s pissed off.
True. But it’s what was reported at the time and as he left this window it suggests that the reports were pretty accurate. How do you know it’s different?
