Having seen the incident last night, strange as it may sound, I think the ref was too close to the incident. I wonder whether he would've red carded the lad from a better viewpoint? Saying that, Wallace came from behind at pace & took the players only standing leg.
great win, we needed that, and its keeps us in contention, another 3 pts from our next game and we will start to feel part of the elite top few....oh, and by the way, i will always have Marvin as my predicted scorer if he plays or not!....it just my way of saying, "see, i told you he would score".... when he does!!...i got the result right though!!
Just back on here after a long time away doing things! Good win, I was a little tentative with my mates all predicting big wins, but a very professional performance saw us score more than once in a game for the first time in 4 matches, and keep a third consecutive clean sheet - a sign of an improving defence?
welcome back lenny, should we play 10 men again. will marvin score against newport in the cup next week
I can't see big Marv scoring for a while to be honest, I think Collins and Gornell should start after the international break - I've been impressed by them both this season. Maybe this is a good game for Morgan to get his goals flowing again though, against supposedly weaker opposition. I have just watched the highlights on the FLS on iPlayer, and for me Wallace's tackle WAS a red.
It's funny, because this season I think it's safe to say the two coming up have far outstripped the four League One drop outs- Crawley are strong auto contenders and Wombles could be dark horse in the play-offs. In contrast PLymouth are surely already sucked down the drain, Swindon can't string two winds together, Gas are underachieving MASSIVELY and we gave John Still's men their 7th defeat in a row. Crawley may have cash to burn but in When Saturday Comes (cracking magazine) Season Preview a dons fan said he'd be content with the club's first ever not top-half finish. At present they're in good stead to go in 9 years to a tasty (big euphemism) derby with MK next year. Just shows you what momentum can do..
be careful, Newport are going to treat this game like the final itself, they will be far stronger than the daggers!!
Just seen the Wallace tackle and it was worse than I expected from the radio commentary. That said, I think it was only a yellow - late yes, but his foot wasn't high. Interesting that Deadman's performance rated a 4/10 in the FL Paper today. I recall the Vale game a few years ago - Richards' kicking Daniels in the face and being awarded the goal showed Deadman to be a bad ref and it seems he hasn't improved in the intervening years. Maybe he's got something against Shrewsbury or maybe he's just rubbish. Then again, a certain James Linington was rated 9/10 at Rotherham and we'll never forget how appalling he was in the Wycombe game last season - made Deadman look merely incompetent that day.
Was Collins' penalty deserved? Watching fls on iplayer Wallace deserved a card, but possibly yellow but did the goalie get hold of the ball first? It was a close call but perhaps the ref tried to balance things.
If refs ever do balance things (which I suspect - & hope - is rare), I don't think a 94th minute decision does much for that. It looked a definite penalty on the replay. The defender clearly shoves Collins from behind and he crashes into the keeper. The push would merit a free kick anywhere on the pitch so it must be a penalty. Worth a yellow card? Yes, on balance, as there's clearly no attempt to play the ball. 2nd yellow, so he has to go, not that that affected the match by that late stage.
Fair enough about the Collins penalty, just watched the Daggers v Shrews specific video, rather than the FLS version and can see the shove in collin's back on that clip!
