Yeah, I think it’ll be the same lady. From the courses she facilitated, likely to have come from (or gone back to ) psychology background.
Last time I saw him was in town, he was recovering from ops on that infamous limp. The ops had gone badly wrong and he’d nearly lost his life. Still very positive though. As you say, fierce competitor but couldn’t meet a nicer fella.
Saw col warming up for brighams in the Sunday cup final a long long go time ago
It was 0-0
They own 7-0 with col netting most of them

similar to Gerry Ingram playing for lord nelson for his brother Norman
Four corners
Four goals for Gerry

Had dinner with Chris Simpkin and his girlfriend (along with my girlfriend at the time) at Cave Castle which I eventually lived at the back of. Simmo at the time was going strong with the City that included of course all the greats-Waggy, Chillo, Houghton and Butler.
I was led to believe that Simpkin at one point ended up in jail (anyone confirm this was true?)

Aye.

Running a brothel.

We've all done it.

I’ve met a fair few famous faces… best one was Pat Phoenix when I worked on the norland.
She was invited to the officers bar but chose to come to the crew’s, what a classy lady she was, sporting a mink coat and high heels but so down to earth. Stayed for almost all the night, wanted to buy us all a round but didn’t get the chance. Tony booth was a great conversationalist and chatted to everyone. I met John miles for those old enough to know who he was. He opened a record store on south street in town. I held his tankard of champagne as he signed my book, had a crafty swigg….met the chaser Shaun Wallace in paragon station, he’d just got off the train and looked lost. I asked if I could point him in the right direction, he wanted the double tree hotel. He said did I want a photo or him to sign anything for helping, I said no but next time your on the chase, mention me… Norm hull city fan…. I’ve shagged the ex girlfriend of John Lennon’s son if that counts as famous, well she said she was his ex girlfriend.. not so memorable if memory serves me well. I met dire straits when they were touring on the brothers in Arms tour, their manager was the biggest fatest ****ing cockney nob ed I’ve ever met. What an absolute ****er, so ****ing full of himself, going bald with a pigtail of what was left, twat. Gave me a tee shirt that was too big for him, absolute tent.
There is more but as I’m getting pissed my memory is fading fast… and half a dozen of these little men are putting me to sleep…nite ****ing nite chaps…

Really "running a brothel". Oh dear did not know I was keeping such company. His girlfriend at the time was very nice not suggesting any connection to said crime though. The dinner was in the spring of 66 (the best year ever from a number of points of view) and City were running wild in their race to being Champions of the old 3rd division north and along the way scoring goals for fun. Simmo got a few himself to console himself in his cell later on.

just a few people I've met and chatted to - Nigel Farage, Tony Benn, Jeffrey Archer - had a few lunches with Piers Corbyn and various Energy Ministers whose names escape me plus many other MPs - shared a bottle of wine with Stirling Moss in the BRDC - met Aron Ralston in Argentina when I was climbing in the Andes - he was the guy who had to cut his own arm off because he got it trapped in a crevice in the middle of the mountain ( film 127 Hours) - got a nice photo with me and Dennis Law holding the FA Cup - quite a bit more both remembered and I'm sure forgotten in some cases - for something like 10 years there wasn't a week I wasn't flying somewhere - it's amazing how many people you either know or recognise at airports - it really is a small world

Many years ago went in a bar in Santa Monica, six of us having a few beers and a meal. My dad says to the bar maid “ all these pictures of film stars do you ever get any in here” she laughs says loads then coming out of the loo is Tom Hanks, my sister starts talking to him then from another room comes Steven Spielberg and someone out of friends. There was only us and them in the bar, They come over we have a chat and they tell us they are making a new movie called saving Private Ryan. Off they then go the bar maid says Tom Hanks comes in nearly every week always gets the fish cakes for ten dollars and leaves a hundred dollar tip. With that we are ready to go and ask for the bill and the bar maid says it’s paid for by Tom Hanks.

Bumped into Ashbee and Woodhouse in Kingston when he was managing Hull United.

As many on here will have experienced Ian was a gent as ever. Curtis on the other hand wasn't best pleased when I suggested Hull United was a load of bollocks.

Time proved me right Curt, time proved me right.

Drank regular with Roland Gift.
Buddy Rich when he played Cecil with his Jazz Orchestra, shook his hand after the show.
Can't remember his name but the weirdo out of the group Darts after the show at City Hall.
Mick Ronson and Bowie on Greatfield, was stood talking to them for about half hour. Bumped into Mick regular up there.

Den Hegarty - was at that gig! What was he on? to sing a song whilst climbing ALL around the outside of the balcony from one side to the other! Last I heard he was a lecturer at Exeter University!

This summer I had Jason Donovan sat on my garden wall. He was filming the postcode lottery advert, which was filmed in my street.
I walked up to piper club with my girlfriend in about 1998/99 just wanting to go in for a drink. The doorman said there was a comedian on, so we said no thanks and started to walk away. This bloke stops us and said he heard the comedian was really good and we should give it a shot. We had a chat to this bloke for 10 mins about all sorts of pointless crap. We eventually paid our fiver and watched the gig. the bloke outside turned out to be the comedian and it was his own gig. Was Peter Kaye. Seemed like a decent bloke.

Sat on the next to Alan Alda in a restaurant near Sienna. Next bumped in to him outside the Domo in Sienna; went to the same restaurant that night and blow me we again were on the next table to him

Most of mine are City related but I did see Robert Wagner and Natalie Wood at Heathrow in ‘79 and recently saw Tim from Corrie in Settle.
As for City, my Dad was an insurance and mortgage broker and did a lot of work for the players, as well as sponsoring games etc., so met a lot of players over the years. Deano, Marwood, Chris Simpkin, George Lyall, Payton, to name a few. Also went to Bruce Bannisters house and had a United biscuit at Stuart Pearson’s house in Sale after he’d gone to Man U. Don’t know if anyone remembers Dave Gibson but he came to our house for tea once and was only a few years older than me.
