hope it comes off. Although I could've just made it up and that knacker has just claimed it as gospel.
Got to love twitter thoughhope it comes off. Although I could've just made it up and that knacker has just claimed it as gospel.

For me it doesnt matter if its an experienced or a young midfielder its finding another one that can play the Evans role. We dont have defensive midfielders who can break up play n block passing lanes like evans does.No offense or anything but why do we need a young midfielder as back up? We've got plenty of young midfielders. We need an experienced midfielder imo.
I've got to say, pisses me off a bit that Matete hasn't been given more of a chance tbh. Bit different to our other midfielders imo, alright not the greatest on the ball but has energy and tenacity. Two traits we've lacked in midfield at times.
Just claiming where the person got his news from
I totally agree it's a defensive midfielder we need. I wasn't really thinking of Matete as a defensive midfielder, I see him as an out and out centre midfielder, who gets about the whole midfield. A ratter. For me it doesnt matter if its an experienced or a young midfielder its finding another one that can play the Evans role. I know you then mention matete and i agree i would like to see him play a bit more but hes clearly not shown TM enough in training. Matete isnt disciplined enough to play the defensive midfield role.
My preference would be to sign someone like max bird, a player who is young but has good experience already
Just seems to me that whenever he's come on in a game we get a grip of the midfield more. It's our main weakness for me over the course of this season so far, whenever we've struggled it's because we're getting overrun, or too weak physically, in midfield.I agree mate, I like Matate alot and wish hed be giving more game time.
Sheff United was a fine example of what he does in the middle of the park with his tenacity, when given the opportunity. He won the ball and set up Gooch for his goal.
Already warned the missus if he signs today I’m going to be unbearable (well more than usual) for the rest of the weekSo which exciting young prospects are we being linked with today?
Is today the day Stewart signs a new deal?
All very exciting and much more fun than being linked with players like Scowen or Darren Gibson
He could sign today and be away next week in fairness contracts just secure the selling club a bigger fee these days, I’m resigned to him going in the summer regardless to be fairI really doubt we announce Stewart contract today. Not when tomorrow is Friday
but in all seriousness as much as the evidence is looking positive, I’m still feeling pessimistic. I’m not sure tactically why he’d sign something during the window, at a time where a potential premier league move is possible. Clubs like Everton are one more injury away from panicking and bidding big for him in both salary and fee.
If he truly wants to stay and not move to premier league then that’s another thing. Which would be amazing.
Yeah get that, hard for him to get in ahead of Neil and Evans but im surprised he hasnt come on more this season as he must be a nightmare to play against.I totally agree it's a defensive midfielder we need. Gets an increase in salary immediately plus the insertion of a release clause that protects the club but guarantees him a move when the time is right, not to mention a hefty signing on bonus. What's not to love?I really doubt we announce Stewart contract today. Not when tomorrow is Friday

Thing is, whilst the money is obviously important, you look at the clubs at the bottom of the premier league and you could argue there's a case for most of them to be left well alone.I really doubt we announce Stewart contract today. Not when tomorrow is Friday

OR a player who makes the decisions, rather than his agent. The agent would have been pushing for him to move at a lower transfer fee, as lower fee to Sunderland means more wages / signing bonus etc to player in negotiations .
BUT we may have stumbled upon an agent that puts his players wishes first
