Lampard is obviously desperate... unless it is part of some tricky plan to get Stewart?

We might hang onto Stewart now more so.

Need at least 2 or even 3 strikers in now.

Agree about Lampard mate. Hopeless manager in my opinion. Drives me mad to see these ex pros walk into top jobs when they simply dont deserve it. Comes from that dreadful era of footballers that believed their hype as the golden generation. Him, Gerrard, Neville all failed at management already. Terry seems like nobody fancies. They have never been a coach yet think they have the tactical know how. I was at Wembley when Lampard blew the play off final. He stood bemused on the touch line wondering why his team were 2-0 down and not in the game. It was staring everybody round me in the face but he seemed to freeze. I wouldnt be surprised to see them smashed next game and he is gone.

Good post Smug but personally speaking, I don't think I have ever thought of players like that. I've had favourites and yes, I've been gutted when players have left - Rowell, Gabbers, Goodman, Hutchinson, Johnston just to name a few but after the initial disappointment you get over it and I suppose I will in time when Stewart leaves. I think from the time frame I've supported Sunderland from you kinda get used to it but nowadays football is a different beast to then and with the money generated by the Premier League, someone is always trying to play catch up - even when they are in the same league! So I think my ambition (and writing this now, I think its what its always been) is to see Sunderland play good football, hold our own against all teams and give them a game and above all be proud to be associated with the club I am seriously back in love with again

Totally agree with you regarding ex-players walking into jobs they don't deserve because they are "a name". Maybe this is because of the self serving attitude they had when playing - whether for their club or country, it was always them that had to be in the spotlight in a game. You would never see them do what the likes of Martin O'Niell did and work their way up to a top job basically because their egos are too big to allow them to do that

Out of those players ballard would be the one id take, i do quite like perkins as well.

The others i dont think are good enough for top end championship yet.

The one ive been watching closely is ferguson at brighton, hes a big lad and works hard for the team - a real handful.

Disappointed simms is away but again their is so much talent out there that our recruitment team will be all over it

One id love us to go for is Konate at salzburg, scoring for fun in their 2nd n youth team this season

Good post that but personally I think we may drop like a stone if we lose Stewart, he brings the wingers into play and occupies defenders in a way that nobody else at the club can…and not many other strikers I have seen this season for that matter.

He will cost an absolute fortune to replace with someone similar. Especially now that Simms seems to have been recalled by Lampard in an act of sheer desperation.

Obviously that’s just my opinion and I hope I’m wrong!

It would be the defensive work from Stewart we lose.. like Ian Rush years ago for Liverpool who worked his socks off to disrupt the opposition in their own half and breakdown their system and also an out when under pressure. . It was evident when he was injured we had none of this. Very rare to get this type of player.

Well TM must think he's run over a black cat.
Just gets his strikers up and running and Simms disappears, gets his squad injury free and loses three players in one game.
Then finds his back four are injury riddled just as an extra and now he gets kicked in the teeth by Lampard.
We'll cope as we always do and as we all know it's never dull being a Sunderland fan.

Aye feel for the bloke. It’ll be his fault though I’m sure for a small minority.

Hopefully KLD and Speakman are keeping an eye on everything and will help him out

Can't wait to see who's linked and who we buy / loan.

The excitement last year when rumours of Ba and Michut signing. Trawling through Google to find out more about them, seeing how highly rated they were was brilliant

How does taking a striker away from us and leaving us short force us to sell our only other striker to them?

It's desperate from Everton but nothing to do with us.
