After a long night of deliberations and conversations between myself, ThaiCanary and cyprussydsafc, I have arrived at a decision! I will, for now, carry on as the Norwich moderator, a task which I have enjoyed doing, even through the odd disappointments! I am, however, under no disillusionment whatsoever after the events of the last couple of days! I feel very strongly that an awful lot of you failed to support Thai in his hour of need (don't interupt, Thai, this has to be said). This man has spent time and effort, and money for the websites, on our behalf to run his various fun league and cup competitions, as well as countless hours work as moderator looking after the interests of our posters, then, when he needs a friend, where were you? Let me remind you that, for evil to triumph, all it takes is for a good man to do nothing! That is what happened over recent events! Too many of you did nothing! That's it! I've said my piece! let us move on! From me Thai, thank you very much for all your fine effort! I, for one, very much appreciate it
I seem to have totally missed this, what has gone on? A point in the direction of the offending material wouldn't go amiss...

Hmmm, as I don't know the whole story I can't really comment. I think both Dave and Thai have done great jobs as mods, and have kept the board fun and lively. I can only assume that the level of wummery and so-called "banter" has reached the sort of level where Thai feels it is a personal attack on him, that is his decision and it's not a job I would want. Perhaps the suggestion in the Bent thread regarding having a dedicated sticky banter thread would be a good idea, although there are a few malicious posters out there who will take the piss anyway. OTBC PC You'll be missed as a mod Thai!
Right, well I missed all of that thread before now. Dave and Thai, I'm sorry that you've obviously had problems with the running of the board. For what it's worth, your hard work on here is much appreciated. Obviously none of us know what goes on behind the scenes, so our view can't be complete, but we know that without the effort you've both put in, there'd be no City 'not' worth commenting on. Dave, I hope you feel able to carry on with being a mod, we need you! Thai, I'm sorry you feel you can't continue with it, you've obviously got to the end of your tether, but I hope you'll be able to reconsider. Together you've done a great job of both keeping this ticking over, and keeping the board in order. So to both of you, thank you for all your efforts, and for what you've put into this forum. It'd be garbage without you!
Sam, I do not take it as a personal attack at all but it does undermine all we have tried to do here in making this a good forum for Norwich (predominantly) fans to come to. Visiting fans are welcome, even that shower at the bottom end of the A140 but we have tried to set a standard and it clearly is not appreciated by enough of our own fans, let alone some Binners. If you read all that thread you will see the argument I have tried to put forward, then look closely at the replies by our fans. I read them and think - what is the point?
Agreed, it's difficult for people to pass judgement without knowing the whole story I suppose. I place my trust in you and whatever decision you've made is probably going to be the right one. Whilst the thread taken on it's own is just a silly wum article, as you've said it's the thin slice of the wedge, and perhaps some of the Canary posters don't see it that way. What I think they were getting at is "this thread isn't that bad", and what you were saying is "if this thread is OK, then so are the other hundreds of wum articles we work hard to get rid of". Also, if I can say so, I don't think you've had any help whatsoever from your counterparts over on the binboard. Am I correct in saying that?
Thai I really like you and appreciate your efforts but I really do think that you are taking this all too seriously. We are all adults (well apart from WLOH who isn't even human) and this is just a football/banter forum at the end of the day. There have been countless wind up posts on our board from Budgies but it adds to the enjoyment of this forum. None of these threads have been offensive in any way and if people are easily offended then they should take up knitting or something similar! I like to think that I am welcome on your board as indeed I welcome you, Dave, CS, Maestro and all the others onto ours. We have had some great banter especially CS when he kidnapped CWick last year! We all had a great laugh over that and CS to his credit played along and bought into the joke. You are right to monitor offensive posts buth I think this time you have over reacted. You may choose to disagree but please don't take this as criticism for criticism sake!
I think some of the Ipswich fans need to take a hint and **** off back to their board for a few days.
Funnily enough, I find the majority of them that post on our board are ok, it's generally on the cross-board threads that problems can arise!
No problems with Binners coming on our boards if they stuff they say is witty/true (See above example). As I said on the Bent thread though, it's unfair to say we're not supporting our moderators when we've only seen the thin slice of the this fabled wedge. In the context of what I saw, all it was is a harmless and pretty weak attempt at banter because an ex binner scored a brace against us. As I've said a few times already, if any former Norwich player scored against Ipswich someone would be on their forum in a flash.
To be honest with you I'm not interested in being their friends, I've had previous exchanges with them in the past and their nothing but a bunch of whiny little bitches, nothing has changed since the old 606.
I'm sorry but i'm not wading in to support ANYONE without knowing the full story, been there done that got burnt no thanks, fact is if anyone feels they need people to wade in on their behalf then you have to put the whole story to them. I don't know but I suspect the vast majority of other forum users feel exactly the same way. Other than that all it looks like to "us" is a stupid spat on an internet forum that happens more times a day than there are babies born. Since forums were invented on t'internet muppets have posted and you have to take it on the chin, they might not have the balls to carry on like that in the real world but put someone behind a PC and suddenly feel invulnerable and the walls of civilisation start to crumble, this is what it is like when you don't have to be responsible for your actions (or at least don't perceive yourself to be responsible). In short if you need backing "we" need the full story and I don't accept the your leader needs you rhetoric too many evil people have played that line in the past to get the masses to follow them and that kind of thing needs resisting wherever possible. No disrespect to anyone involved and please don't take this the wrong way but I pick my fights carefully and thoughtfully (or try to) I hope Thai is ok and all of whatever has happened is put in the past after being dealt with.
Dave - Wasn´t even aware that the thread existed until you posted this, and have only now just been onto the Ipswich board to take a look at the offending article. Can´t honestly say that it´s any different from the sort of tripe we used to get on the old 606, and I would only suggest that those who are offended by it, just ignore it, however hard that may be. Maybe you, and the Ipswich moderators should get together and try and work out some sort of joint ´rules of banter´which both boards can agree on. Personally, whenever these sorts of threads appear, I refuse to get involved, because they invariably end with insults.
The Norwich board is generally a friendly place and you get far fewer Wums than on many other boards, especially the general chat board and many other football sites. That said, I wouldn't want to mod, it seems like a thankless task where you are never right whether you mod too often or not enough. That said, I think the mods on this board are pretty good and let a lot of good banter stay which aids a good debate. Cheers to Thai for all his hard work, especially with all the games and fun threads etc.
yep, agree with rich. i can't defend anyone when i don't understand what is going on. i had to take the article in question at face value. i mean, its just a message board at the end of the day. hope that doesn't offend anyone but i'm just being honest. i hope thai continues to comment as he always writes good articles
