    Haydock 230
Jungle Jack 4s with doublebet boost to 8s well worth the risk with Hughes finding a win today hopefully a confidence booster

Was down to run market rasen slog on monday but been re routed for this , which promises to be a haydock dlogfest , horse has been off for 2 years so a bit of guesswork needed, was hugely progressive though on such ground , the small stable won with another entry on heavy at leicester on wednesday. At the 11 or 10s on offer, seems value against frankly a lot of exposed sluggers , Jimmy Digger seems to be getting backed , all his best form is on good ground , he runs very much in snatches , getting left behind in this ground won’t be the same !
good. luck if you foolish enough !!!

    Hello again, team.

For me the standout moment, re the Christmas racing action, has to be Boothill's jump at the final fence in the Grade 2 Wayward Lad. Did you see it?!? One word, people, fab-u-lus. What. A. Leap.

And what can you say about that Pertemps Qualifier at Leopardstown apart from 'cor blimey', then?!? A 27 runner heat won by 16 lengths!!! Maxxum's chances in the Final though totally, and I do mean totally, in the hands of the handicapper now.

Meanwhile, it was great to see both No Ordinary Joe and Fingal Bridge oblige. I've seen no comments from connections but the former looks to have 'Betfair Hurdle' written all over him (surprisingly, I can find no market for this race). Whilst the latter remains a hugely promising type going forward. I wonder if connections will remain in ordinary bumper races, next time, or pitch the old boy into Listed / Graded class???

News away from the NH sphere I see that the new owners have switched The Platinum Queen to the yard of Mr Varian. Best of luck to her but bit harsh on the Richard Fahey barn that, methinks.

Nothing for me today but both weekend dates look interesting at this stage.

    Good luck all.

Can anyone remember that German trained horse who came over and won a bumper at Ascot a while back (Oct '21)??? Estacas (son of Galileo) was his moniker. Seem to recall him getting a lot of mentions on here (and throughout the media) and there were even whispers about him being the latest reincarnation of Pegasus. Anyway, after Ascot he was then 3rd in a £40k Lingfield bumper (very respectable run) before then running on the Flat in Germany and getting beat at odds of 2/5. Disappeared off the old radar after that and hasn't run since that latter race in April.

Anyway, I note that he is now listed as being trained by David Bridgwater. No current entries but, perhaps, one to look out for.

I can pick holes in the credentials of most of the runners in the Haydock bumper but I would say is that any Twiston-Davies runners in these events should not go unbacked at 14/1, PIPPIN TOOK.

Brian Hughes with a lovely piece of work/schooling there for the McCain yard.

Winner was game as hell, fair play to the young claimer.

Just had a look at the Wolves card and could hardly contain my excitement. However, having calmed down, I did have a closer look at the 18.00 and I can't help wondering if the posted odds make any sense

We have Viola who, after 20 races can be assumed to be fully exposed (at least managed a 2nd in a G3 this year) trading at 4/1
Then we have Base Note, currently 5/2, who did win a C2 over C&D earlier this month
Then we come to the current fav at as low as 5/4, Mr Alan. He's been racing in C2 or lower (except for two unsuccessful attempts at listed level)
Next is Protected Guest, who I don't think has ever raced above C2 'reflected in his odds of 25/1 and more)
Temporize has a similar profile but is generally 6/1

The only other runner is Scriptwriter (10/1 available). This Churchill gelding has had just 6 races. On his 3rd racecourse appearance in a G3 he was beaten 6l by subsequent 2000Gns winner Coroebus. He was then beaten 6l in another G3

Recently he has had 2 runs over hurdles and won both. Now returns to the flat

Should be fit and looks over priced to me

Just noticed he is a negative MM. Apparently 4/1 at 1st Show. Obviously no idea as to why he has drifted. Has he returned to the flat for a coup, or will he run down the field to maybe help his handicap over hurdles, or tune him up for a hat trick over hurdles? Virtually impossible with no inside info.

I think they just want to keep his match fitness up Ron. The ground has rather gone against him on turf currently and his real target is actually the Triumph Hurdle.
