I used to live in the Glasgow area (Hamilton) and Whitejock is completely wrong. Glasgow is absolutely NOT in the Highlands.

Except he never said that it was in the Highlands, he said Central Belt.

Now not being Scottish or having any association with Scotland, I've no idea if people associate the Central Belt with Highlands, Lowlands or even Midlands ;), but I do see that according to the National Library of Scotland, I do see that Glasgow is north of what the maps held on that site, state as being the Scottish Uplands, or The Southern Highlands.

I fully admit that I have no actual personal knowledge on the subject in hand, hence my reply is based upon what appears to be a somewhat official source.

Now of course if people want to refute that, I am not in a position to argue, I gladly accept that fact, other than the actual point that WJ never said anything about Glasgow being in the Highlands ;)

Edit - To acknowledge that Milky said what I have just said in a lot less words than I needed to ;)

He is wrong but he will agree that Glasgow is not in the highlands, as that’s not what he was saying.

Only on not06 <laugh><laugh>

He said:
Please enlighten us, especially the bit where Glasgow moved south into the lowlands.

So you don't think that he claimed that Glasgow was NOT in the lowlands ?

You need to re-read it again or sharpen your reading comprehension.

No-one needs to "enlighten" him, Glasgow has ALWAYS been in the Lowlands.

So you don't thin this a denial that Glasgow is in the Lowlands ?

You need to read better.

Did you look at the map supplied by the National Library of Scotland ;)

As I said in my post Poly, I am not in a position to argue the point you are trying to make, so no need to try and force your opinion on me, but WhiteJock said Glasgow is in the Central Belt, he never mentioned the Highlands

Someone other than myself also needs to read better ;)

But was anybody specific about which Glasgow the discussion was about, or was it just inferred that Glasgow Scotland was the subject of the discussion?

****ing hell guys. We could have pages and pages to increasingly anger Jock whilst he can't reply and we are infighting. We need to focus up.

Glasgow is in the Lowlands. Its a football forum and Celtic and Rangers 'B' sides both play in the lowland league. That's good enough for me.

Can we just get on with slagging Jock off about his lack of Scottishness so when he next docks he can sit with his cocktail and be increasingly infuriated reading all this back.

Thanks.

I have no idea about Glasgow but would strongly suspect that WJ knows what he is talking about.

What I do know is, I had at least one post deleted on this thread (no idea which one) because it was deemed to be non football related (or far less likely it was seen as racist which I am not) but now it looks like another free for all where personal insults are acceptable so can I play? If so, Poly you really do come across as a self opinionated, pompous smug twat :emoticon-0148-yes:

I find it hilarious Argentina fans singing anti English songs with a referencce to the Malvinas (falkland isles). An island that they never owned or settled. The inhabitants who see the U. K as their protector. So Argentina invaded to cover up a military junta who has slaughtered thirty thousand of it's own people. They then force feed this invasion in there history as England the agressors. Argentina was not even a country when the falklands were settled. Portugal and Spain (the pope) carved up as much of south America betwern them and the French took a step back as they had a treaty with Spain at the time. Now the real native people of Argentina are still fighting for their rights. Just like the native north Americans and Aboriginals of Australia. Look to your own country first you blind Argentinians.
