Di Maria was excellent, but he played 64 minutes of a 120 minute game plus pens. Mac Allister again, a very good performance, particularly first half. But Messi scored 2 goals (and a pen), he was instrumental in the 3rd goal, he had more shots on target than any other player, more key passes, more accurate passes and more crosses than anyone else. He also scored the key 3rd goal when Argentina needed a lift.
What is it with people. I literally said I think both Eonaldo and Messi are tremendous. I fall on Ronaldo side as he’s done it in harder leagues, but appreciate how good Messi is too. Yet I’m getting pellets on Facebook, particularly now. Jesus get a grip!! 2 great players to watch. A World Cup is not going to change my opinion!!
Here's a dilemma, my son has really got into football over this world cup. As a responsible parent and human I should mention the corruption, the cost of life etc, but he just saw football and loved it
No, get him a season ticket for the rest of the season and enjoy seeing the smile on his face, talking tactics and explaining the offside rule to him. . It's great fun.
Mate I would separate the football and the corruption etc. But use the event to talk to him about the stuff you think he is ready to understand. There isnt a footballer or coach who had an involvement in awarding it to Qatar, nor any of the human rights abuses in stadium building etc. The football has been exceptional. Really brilliant. As good a world cup for many many years. Leverage the beauty of that to nurture his love of the game. Let him focus on players from around the world who have been tremendous. It might be a lifetime love in the making. It was Argentina 78 and Spain 82 that gave me my real love of the game.
Not sure how old your kid is, but I'd say he has more than enough time to find out how **** the world is. Let him have football unblemished for now. He'll forget about this world cup soon enough anyway, but it will be the gateway into a life time of following the lads hopefully.
He has a season ticket I'm hoping the world cup will encourage him to come more. I saw so much of myself in him, sitting wide eyed at the TV watching and just in awe. I really hope he comes more often as I know dad especially loves talking to him about it and being at the match with him
