The Long Walk Hurdle has been rescheduled then and will take place at Kempton Park on St Stephen's Day. By my reckoning that will be 4 Grade 1's on the card. Prizemoney for the race though has been cut from £105,000 to £80k.

The amazig Southwell continues, must be in some kind of UK banana belt? Used to think Munich was in one, but not today. Snowing like blazes and is a right-old winter wonderland. Brrrrr.:frown:

The last at Kempton more for interest so small bet again .
Gallagher puts the visor back on paddy k which seemed to bring on paddys run .
Claimer Billy Loughnane takes of a handy 7lbs , which should only help .

In the 15:45 at Southwell, a Class-4 Handicap over an extended 2m2f, a chance is taken with Shadowfax. This Galileo gelding is very well-bred, his dam, Golden Valentine, was an excellent middle-distance filly during her racing career. However, selection is still young and might need more time to show his best form. So, modest wager, in the hope that he will improve on his run at Kempton 16-days ago.
Will take a chance with the eventual SP price.

Billy Loughnane is well-worth his 7lb claim, giving Paddy K an excellent chance in this event.

Looks a good up and coming claimer , the race itself has a few interesting runners though so should be worth a watch

Racing is in the gutter. First Chelmsford now kempton both cancelled because of the weather. These fixtures could’ve been rescheduled for the afternoon. This weather has been forecast for weeks.. trainers have horses going mad in their boxes. They need to get them out. We could’ve had three or four bumpers for jumpers meetings this week. Unfortunately, it’s all about what the bookies want

I think we might have to change the description from ALL WEATHER to MILDLY BAD WEATHER.

wow , so a freezing fog was forecast weeks ago ?
ok , so they’re not prepared for much , but fog is very localised .
the tracks may be raceable , but approach roads , concourses etc might not be ..?
as for horses going mad in their boxes , you make them sound like junkies needing a fix , give them a gallop

Any excuse for an argument. My point being the weather had been forecast . They could’ve rescheduled the meetings to be run during the day and probably could have had a couple of meetings at each track this week As for the horses they’re primed to run. Lots have probably had their training schedules interrupted with lack of gallops. I bet many trainers would’ve loved the opportunity to run some horses this week. And don’t come to me about horse welfare I’ve forgotten more than you’ll ever know.

you do know that it’s scheduled for bookmakers as much as any one else , forecasts for weather are notoriously difficult to get right , i think you’re being a bit dramatic

Part of the problem, bookmakers have to much say over the schedule. The bha could’ve moved the fixtures and added more at short notice. On the welfare . Many trainers have struggled to get horses out on the gallops because of the weather. It’s dangerous for horses being fed up ready to race then sitting in their box for a week.
