I thought we did ok in the World Cup but as Spurly says, with the 'quality' in our squad, 'ok' dosen't really cut it. I think it was Ern that said that at least we went out to the previous holders. The frustrating part for me is not scoring against France other than by a penalty. I think we rely far too much on Kane's penalty taking.
opportunity missed I’ve seen this **** before at Spurs when we are doing ‘ok’ and ‘our time will come’ etc etc let’s just have a group hug and that’s it…we ready to go again Our time won’t come unless we make brave ruthless decisions now
I've changed my mind again, Southgate needs to leave and we get someone else in for the Euro's. Be tailor made for a Tuchel or Mourinho this. Quick 18 months with the aim to win the ****ing thing, not keep blowing smoke up the arses of Raheem Sterling because of trust or something. Those two won't just continually pick their bessie mates.
Your first sentence is the exact issue. Doing ok doesn’t mean we’ve done as well as we should and that ultimately falls on the manager for failing to get the best out of the team. Only Southgate could have a riches of attacking and creative talent and load up either with defenders or defensive midfielders. There’s a reason his only other senior managerial job was getting relegated with Middlesbrough, and here we have him managing the best our country has to offer. Someone make it make sense, please…
I'm all for that but not Mourhino. Football will be dire and there'll be a whole circus around him as usual. He'll probably fck off the footy media and the whole team will implode. Tuchel defo. How about Zidane or Poch? Zidane's probably waiting for the France gig but why not if we're considering outside of English managers. Bielsa - 18 months to rise, peak and burn
I think people need to look at the context of why we lost to one of, if not, the best team in the world. Saying we could only attack through FK's & penalties seems to ignore why those were given in the first place, when we were given them at all.
Don't agree. Harry Kane won the golden boot in 2018, I'm happy to have a guess without checking that a few of them were penalties then as well. Don't remember in the days of Gerd Muller him win a golden boot on penalties, at best maybe one? Yes, we have VAR that will increase the likelyhood of penalties, but it's still a failure, should we have used the same tactics as France, maybe that's our trouble, we are not ruthless enough, maybe that's why teams like Spurs never win trophies. Erm...I wonder how many club trophies Kane has to his name, let me guess, none. Southgate is not ruthless either, he over thinks it, for example Iran, he said he wasn't happy we conceded, and there is your problem.
