Good Morning. It's Tuesday 6th December, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Injury and illness rocks Leeds training camp

Patrick Bamford is back in Blighty, having successfully undergone inguinal canal surgery (a hernia operation to you and I), and could return to training in a fortnight. The Leeds No 9 flew out to Munich last weekend, where he and Rob Price (Leeds head of medicine) met up with World recognised Physician Dr Ulrike Muschaweck.

The 'Muschaweck repair' (as it is known) is understood to have gone well. The procedure involved making no incisions into intact structures and instead only "repaired" the actual defect, which will speed up Bamford's recovery time.

Back in Leeds training camp in Alicante, players are dropping like flies. Diego Llorente has broken his hand, and has undergone minor surgery, Firpo has a fresh groin injury, and both Kristoffer Klaesson and Illan Meslier are suffering with viruses, leaving Joel Robles their only fit shot stopper.

Orta set for talks with Harrison's representatives

Victor Orta is set for talks with Jack Harrison's representatives (Remington Ellis Management) over the forthcoming couple of weeks, to discuss a new contract, that could see him become one of the highest paid player on Leeds books.

With little over 18 months left on his contract, the 26-year-old's valuation is starting to decline, and should he leave Elland Road, Leeds want to make sure they extract every penny they can. Harrison's form of late has been disappointing, especially after a positive start to the 22/23 campaign. It is hoped, a new contract will help settle the situation, so the former Citeh youngster can get back on track.

If Leeds offered contract extensions to trio, would it show a lack of ambition

Leeds-live journalist Beren Cross is reporting that Robin Koch, Rodrigo and Diego Llorente are all holding talks with the club regarding contract extensions to their current deals. All three players have 18 months left on their respective deals, leaving Leeds in a catch 22 situation.

Rodrigo has hit a rich vein of form this term, but in 18 months time he will be 33, and with his best years behind him. Llorente, and to some degree Koch have both struggled with life in the Premier League, and if Leeds are to progress up the table, they have some tough decisions to make regarding their personnel.

Leeds are two points from the drop zone, and have conceded 26 times from 14 games, Only four other clubs in the top flight have conceded more.

Koch has it in him to be a good player, but he just goes missing. Lorent ditto, but his decline started earlier in his career at ER. They were both internationals in good sides so what has happened.

Morning all

I am not concerned about Meslier having a virus, better now than when the season resumes, if you were going to pick three players to be out injured Firpo, Bamford and Llorente would be high on your list, we play better when those three are nowhere near the starting 11.

No way should we offer Llorente a new contract, as for Jack is there room to play him on the left if not he has to go too. We've got too much money tied up in James, Llorente, Firpo and Harrison, they're under performers and if we can recoup some of the outlay we should.

Koch I am happy for him the sign a new contract, realistically we can't shift 4-5 of them and replace them all in the next window

Lovely new contracts for all the current squad, maybe even forshaw. As doc pointed out it adds to the players paper value. The 49ers will think they’re buying a squad wort a couple of hundred million whereas you lads all know you couldn’t give most of them away. I’m a genius <laugh><laugh><laugh>
