Senegal heads went a bit after the first goal, plus we belatedly realised that getting Slabhead and Stones to try and play intricately out from the back wasn’t the best idea…Completely turned game on its head.
Actually I had been watching Rice’s positioning when Maguire and Stones were on the ball and he wasn’t giving them an out ball. Have a look second half (he probably won’t do now) as he kept putting himself behind a striker rather than moving away to create an angle for the pass.
Very encouraging that we can find an extra gear like that, won’t be able to afford that first 30 mins against France should we advance though.
Okay now I can say it. Our CBs scare me vs Frances forwards but we can scare them too. Need to play on the front foot and we can match them.
Is it just me or does Walker look like he’s lost 1/2 a yard of pace? Still quick but not quite what he was.
