Glad to see. Hope they go through. Swiss team built on immigrants. Don't care for the Serbs & Croats and their Ultras.
Mitrovich went down as if he's been shot..... the big tart, if he'd stayed on his feet he could have scored........
No provocation' Serbia v Switzerland (19:00 GMT) When the sides met in the 2018 World Cup, Granit Xhaka and Xherdan Shaqiri scored and appeared to make an eagle gesture with their hands as they celebrated, a symbol of the two-headed eagle on the Albanian flag. After the break-up of the former Yugoslavia in the 1990s, Serbia responded to separatist pressure from Kosovo by launching a brutal crackdown on the territory's Albanian population, which ended with Nato military intervention in 1999 - while the country became independent from Serbia in 2008. Xhaka's father spent three and a half years as a political prisoner in Yugoslavia, while Shaqiri was born in Yugoslavia before emigrating to Switzerland as a child. Earlier in this year's tournament, Serbia hung a flag in their dressing room that showed the outline of Kosovo filled in with the Serbian flag and the words 'no surrender'. Getty ImagesCopyright: Getty Images Serbian journalist Nedeljko Iljukic, speaking on BBC World Service's World Football in Qatar said: "A few days ago everyone wanted to know about the flag in the Serbia locker room, the tensions between the two teams and the fans but I can honestly say, it will be an ordinary football game. "There is no provocation. People in the UK or wherever - I'm from Serbia - don't know exactly what has happened in our region. I don't know what the problem is with the flag in the Serbian locker room. The main problem, the only problem, is the social networks." Swiss journalist Andreas Boni, also speaking on World Football in Qatar said: "Xhaka's father was three and a half years in prison – and this is deep in Xhaka. The whole family story is deep in him, and when he scored the goal, all the emotions came out. "I don't think [he will do it again] because he will learn from history I hope. He is very quiet at the moment - well balanced - but on the pitch it will be a fight. But that's what football should be - on the pitch a fight, but not [about] politics." BBC
Have to say the Serbia team look a right nasty bunch...... can see there being a punch up at full time
Have you noticed/been informed that: When Infantino was shown on the screen at a match he was booed. The following day he was again shown, but only for tv, not at the venue. Swedish tv picked up on this. Since then then tosser has been shown constantly. **** FIFA!
Heard he was booed at one of the games but wasn't aware about him not subsequently been shown in the grounds........ nothing FIFA does should surprise anyone......
USA failed to see out the last 30 secs of the first half and it is 2-0 for the Dutch. More defensive blunders! A tough road to come back, next goal will be critical to the match outcome.
Sucker punch by the Dutch, Dumfries scoring this time, absolutely unmarked with his hand up to receive ball.
Life was so much simpler back then...... photographers with film in their cameras that had to be developed and Cinzano advertisments,,,,,,, oh and 2 of the finest footballers ever.......
Sadly, the legend Pele has been taken into palliative care in a Sao Paulo hospital. He's stopped responding to chemotherapy for colon cancer, so they've stopped it and will now only treat him for pain and respiratory difficulties. Very sad news.
Alan Mullery tried to swap shirts with Pele, but he refused and pointed to Moore. Very sad to hear that Pele is close to death.
Messi’s playing tonight. Also Argentina and Australia, but who cares about them? Messi, Messi, Messi, Messi, Messi…. Come on you Aussies, and that’s a first from me.
