My thoughts exactly. Wales seemed to be playing for a draw - particularly in the first half.
It’s only after we went 2-0 up that they attacked. By then they would have needed to score 6.
I understand this.
My father’s family were from south Wales and my dad grew up in Barry. Our family still own property there.
My family holidays were spent with my grandparents in Pembrokeshire in a small coastal village called Moylegrove near Cardigan where they settled after they retired - I even went to school there for 1 term when my parents house was being renovated.
I feel 100% English though, having been born and grown up in (south) Bristol but I do have a soft spot for Wales - not soft enough to actually SUPPORT them though - I was celebrating the goals last night along with everyone else, but I don’t feel the need to go ripping into the Welsh and rub their noses in it. They did well to qualify at all, given their size and population - only Qatar itself is smaller - and they didn’t need to qualify being the hosts.
I know this feeling isn’t reciprocated - the Welsh will now be following the England games in earnest supporting whoever we play against - alongside the Scots (I posted on another thread that without England these competitions would be of no interest whatsoever to the Scots…)

Not so. I'll be wishing England the best of luck and hope they go on to win it and "bring it home" for the UK.
You have the quality in depth to do it whereas sadly we didn't.
I question the continuous selection of Walker and Maguire, but I must confess the latter had quite a good game against Wales. We spend way too much time going across and backwards with tippy tappy football which frustrates the hell out of me especially when we have good players up front except Harry Kane who seems to be out of touch with his teammates. We will be facing Fammy in our next game and it will be interesting to see his performance after a goal in their last match. There are times when England look a lot like City in their approach to the games, but with a little more finesse.
you do have a few youngsters that with the right domestic teams behind them will give you a few years of decent competitiveness dont think KM performed anything like he was made out to be from what I saw he seemed more intent on attacking the player than the game! in other words was there a better centre forward could have played in his place or is there one on the horizon?

I thought both played well against Wales Maguire has done well in all 3 games ..right place at right times
dont think he played in last game not checked but was obviously a sub as whole squad is subs .. as for ENGLANDS PLAY thought at times it was a bit predictable but caters well for the break ... entices other team forward first half thought they under played to Foden
Neither have ever let England down, Maguire in particular plays better for England than for his club. Some players take to Internationals, some don’t. He’s been one of our best players this tournament in my view.
Top class Welsh Centre forwards have been thin on the ground since the great John Charles. Easily the best since him have been Ian Rush and Mark Hughes but that was probably the best part of 30 years ago.
No disrespect intended, but Keiffer Moore is a pale shadow of those but apparently the best option we have to lead the line at the moment. Some decent youngsters coming through, but the transition from "promising" to "performing" is a massive step.
Maguire has been excellent so far and deserves to stay in the side.
Should England beat Senegal then Walker will be 1st name on the team sheet against France.
He's about our only hope of stopping Mbappe.
