What l don’t get is how any manager in any World Cup can think about winning anything by playing defensive mode.
The winner of the World Cup is the most attacking country.
I forsee some very boring games ahead as many teams at international level seem to close up shop as their main tactic. Hope I'm wrong though

Strangely I don’t care, normally I’d be excited by now. I don’t think England will win so not that interested. I may change
Agree with you Wherever. Same old teams tend to win (Brazil, Argentina, France, Germany, Italy, ... oh ... wait?!).
Spain, Uruguay, Netherlands, England, USA, Croatia could get lucky, as teams are strong, but, dare I say it, don't get as much "luck" from the officials. Yeah, I know, Spain and Uruguay have won in the past.
As far as the rest, well, someone has to make up the numbers. :emoticon-0118-yawn: (Yeah, even Oz).
I will be watching if nothing else good on TV/internet, but as Wherever wrote "not that interested" ... unless one of the lesser teams gets a good run.
Still, HB won't be getting my hard earned. :emoticon-0105-wink:

You know something, at the moment I really couldn't give a fiddlers about the World Cup or as it's flogged on TV "FIFA World Cup™" This view might change when games start but everything about this event is just so wrong......

Join my boycott Tramms….stand together !!

Even though Australia made the World Cup, we Aussies don’t agree with their views on women, humans rights & alike so as a protest vote, we’ll be doing everything we can to get out early!

Well I've been here 8 years and so far zero World Cup fever, just non stop controversy from the Western countries, however the wider Arab / Muslim world is very excited about a Middle East World Cup and the demographic for the visiting fans will be vastly different from all previous tournaments

I have no idea how this will play out, a winter Tournament in an Arabic Muslim country but I hope it passes without incident

I am going to all 3 England group games plus tickets for Brazil, Uruguay and Korea, in fact tickets are being given away free here now as sales are not to the expected levels

With minimal preparation time, maybe this is the year an African side lifts the trophy? That would be good to see

And Wherever, don't forget Wherever..........:emoticon-0100-smile
My tiny little protest...not joining this beanfeast.
I will join Tramor, Wherever and Stainsey on the picket line.

(But secretly I am pleased it is happening just to give my beloved Rs a chance to rest, regroup and Micky Beale a chance to work things out)
So, looks like everyone's on the same page, even dear old Tramore, albeit,
in absentia. :emoticon-0143-smirk

Sounds like as good excuse as ever.
However, Socceroos may try to play well to remain as long as possible.
Reports on news that Aussie players have changed their tack after falling in love with the facilities in Qatar. What's the old saying, oh yeah ... Money Talks.
Trouble is, mine always says goodbye! (credit to Morecambe and Wise, where I first heard that joke) :cheesy:

Good luck to you WBA. I'd be excited too if I had tickets to see matches. Wouldn't mind being there. Joining in the festivities and seeing action just metres away is much more gratifying than watching on tele/internet, with little discourse with others, and where you're at the mercy of the provider as to content.

You enjoy yourself WBA and hope whatever team you back do well. You've earned it with your dedication, not to mention money.

And yeah, also hope an African or other, (not being racist here), dark horse gets up. Heck, maybe Oz or even England. Celebrations in London would go crazy. Even Leeds would be MASSIVE. <doh>
