That’s ignoring the point….we haven’t got the houses for anyone so yes they are in hotels, costing money…..money that we haven’t got. Money that could be spent somewhere else….so yeah it really does affect us all.
It's impactful because the asylum seekers are visible to everyone in their small boats and because the likes of Farage are drawing attention to them on a daily basis. The numbers are not actually particularly high. How many asylum seekers are in the UK? In 2020, the UK received applications for asylum for 37,550 people (including dependants). This is around three times less than the number of applications received each by Germany (124,380), France (103,370) and Spain (108,225). Around 43 per cent of people seeking asylum in the UK in 2020 were women and children. Overall, eight per cent were children who had arrived in the UK alone without a parent or guardian. SOURCE: BRITISH RED CROSS These stats are out of date obviously, but because Home Office processing is so painfully slow, up to date figures are impossible to find. If we processed asylum claims in France, the criminal trafficking would diminish massively.
It’s a pretty moot point as despite the hysteria, not that many people want to come here. But how about letting in people who want to fill the vast number of vacancies in our economy or those fleeing persecution. Admittedly we might turn into Karachi in your head.
You haven't answered the question. You said you were not "no borders". So who would you keep out of the UK?
Come on Bracknell…..just answer the question….who would you keep out ? Or are you really “open all borders”. No problem if you are, but just stand by your principles man
This is because asylum seekers are currently required to reach the UK before they can apply, and we have removed all legal means of them doing so. It's almost as though this is what the Tories want. It certainly gets the likes of you and Goldie jumping up and down, doesn't it?
Yes to those who can contribute to the economy legally and/or are fleeing persecution. No to others. Pretty simple. We need more migration. We choose to be lax on the immigrants the likes of Goldie pretend to fear under thinly-veiled xenophobia.
Not really…. But then when you’re sitting in your middle class life in middle class Ruislip it’s easy to castigate others……
Ah so your saying “illegal” economic migrants wouldn’t be accepted in Bracknell World ? Just want to get it straight in my mind.
