I think they’re pre-WC warmup friendlies, no? They’re playing Mexico who are qualified. Quite a few of the teams who are in the WC seem to have scheduled friendlies, though England haven’t. Without checking the relative finish dates of national leagues before the WC starts I don’t know if that’s because the PL finishes later or some other reason.
Sweden ain’t even in the World Cup so we’ve absolutely made correct decision to pull Kulu from these stupid games when he’s at risk of aggravating any injury. ****ing ridiculous to play more games in what’s already a congested season.
Absolutely the right decision to pull him out even if I don’t mind the games being played per-se. Hopefully he’ll get a mini pre-season of his own and be raring to go when the PL resumes. We’ll likely have quite a few players go past the group stage so having a few key players fresh from a break will be important. On a purely selfish Spurs level I hope Uruguay and South Korea struggle in the groups too, they’re in a tough one. But I suspect many of our other regulars will go reasonably deep in the tournament.
Yeah I think all of our players will reach the KOs - unfortunately. We're already looking shattered due to the abysmal squad management of the manager and the World Cup's gonna take even more out of them. Kulu and Bissouma are the only important players who'll be getting a rest and to be fair Bissouma may have benefited from one or two extra games. I'm selfishly hoping Son's injury prevents him from playing but I know it won't, he'll be masked up. I think Uruguay will top the group and might go quite far, they've got some seriously good players scattered throughout. I reckon Valverde especially will have a tournament like how Ozil did in 2010 or James Rodriguez had in 2014, where they really make the world notice how quality they are. There's bound to be one or two relatively unknown stars too, always like spotting them.
Uruguay look like a proper good tournament team. Very solid with game winning players sprinkled in. They’ll cause anyone problems. There’s 3 similar teams in that group though, plus Ghana who could pull a surprise. You’d imagine it’s Portugal plus 1, so someone’s getting a rest. I’d probably breathe a sigh of relief if Korea don’t make it out.
I think Uruguay are better than Portugal so can see Portugal battling South Korea and Ghana for the second spot - famous last words mind, Uruguay will probably bomb now. As bad as it sounds too, based on this season, Bentancur would be a far bigger loss than Son at the moment so I’m genuinely hoping they do bomb and he comes home early to be as fresh as possible for the league restart.
Skipp & Bentancur with Pre Season II: Electric Boogaloo in their legs could be far more important than people realise
Sonny confirmed he’s going to the World Cup. Over the moon for him even though it would have been nice for Spurs if he’d had some time off.
