I work a lot. But I am well paid. I won’t say what I earn but my overall package is fantastic compared to every job I have ever had. Honestky your barking up the wrong tree I have been on both sides and I am staying on this side. The education sector is better paid than the commercial. It’s why I stay. I was offered a 55k job last week but I said no. That says it all.
Look, as fascinating as it is to discuss pringles, teachers' pay schemes, holiday and pensions, I think we are all missing the main point of this thread. That fat people are being disciminated against in the prediction league by a corrupt, evil tyrant, hell bent on cheating his way to the top. Now I really don't like to go on about it, or make make a big deal or anything... it's just that... NOBODY'S ****ING LISTENING!!!!
Tells you he’s not a teacher as he knows nothing. He just sees numbers and 12 months pay so assumes that means you get paid for 12 months. Now he’d only be correct that it’s a well paid job if it was for 32.5 hours a week as per our contract. But the average teacher does 55 hours a week so we do over 20 hours a week unpaid. We then generally do some work during unpaid “holidays”. I got it slightly wrong - we get paid for 5.6 weeks holiday. Therefore the other 7.4 weeks is unpaid
And this myth about teachers only getting paid for 39 weeks would mean they would earn 60k a year pro rata at the top level and then you can add an extra 24% for the pension. That’s 75k a year.
Again your completely wrong. I can’t actually believe you believe this crap. You get paid for working 12 months. You get a Salary based on working a an annual term. You get more holidays than any profession. You get a final salary which is extremely rare. You don’t know how lucky you are honestly. I have came into this sector and stayed because it would be suicide to move back.
Okay.....I'm making some assumptions here so forgive me if I'm wrong. I'll assume your parents are still alive. I'll assume your Mrs parents are still alive...... and I'll go out on a limb and assume they own their own houses. I'll also assume they aren't some complete crackpots that will write their kids out their wills and leave everything to the dogs trust or something. either rent the ****ing houses out or sell them and chuck that in a pension, shares, bonds or whatever else. ****ing hell the way the countries going at the minute, bang it in a savings account
And there is no proof whatsoever that the average teacher works 55 hours a week. You teach between 9 and 3 for 5 days. Excluding dinner break that’s maximum 5 teaching hours a day. 25 hours teaching. So you spend 30 hours not teaching?
Honestly your financial package at the scale you will be at is far better than most commercial roles in comparison. You just don’t want to accept it. I will never deny I moved into education to get the best lay deal I could and I won’t deny I want to stay there. Teachers don’t want to see that. You wouldn’t believe it how bad it is if you left the profession and went into the commercial world. But then again. You have maybe not tried?

Let me just be the voice of reason here I'd suggest you double check your facts GG. He's a teacher in a school and you work with professors in a college.
I did the payroll for the school. I know the salaries and the hours worked. Get your facts right matey. I know this inside and out.
Basically if he worked with you I'd think of him as Indianna Jones. When in reality I currently think of him like Mr Bronson from Grangehill
He’s a teacher who thinks the world owes him something. The reality is he is paid fine for the work he does. Gets a ****ing amazing holiday allowance. And gets a fantastic pension when most people get peanuts. They are extremely lucky.
You'll also know that each education authority is different and a lot of schools are now operated in the private sector then? Everyone's different. Mum was the finance manager for a high school for 25 years Hence, why I enjoy being a **** stirrer. Back in the day they had to sign on the dole during the summer holidays mate. Granted they never got money but they had to in order to get their stamp.
