TM ON EMBO

Tony Mowbray gave Elliott Embleton the nod last Saturday against Preston as a reward for his form and performances in training. Even though Embo didn’t come up with any sort of goal contribution the gaffer still has faith in the 23 year old.

SHOOTER
"I watch Elliot in training and he shoots more than any other player at the football club. He shoots off both feet and he's pretty accurate with both to be honest, I just feel like if we can play him beyond their midfield and we can get him half a yard.”

DESERVED OPPORTUNITY
"I want to give him that chance to do what he does in training and obviously we're looking for players who can get us those goals at the moment. I looked at his record last year and in terms of both goals and assists it was very good. I think he deserves an opportunity to show that he can contribute goals for us, he's been given an opportunity to do that."

NO GOAL SCORING ISSUES
"I don't want to sit here and talk about strikers, we will find a way to score goals as we have done and we will find a way to win games. Sometimes you go through a game where you don't score, that happens to every football team. I don't see it being an issue, we've got players who can score goals in our squad.".

He's a good footballer who can play with both feet. His problem is his lack of mobility.

he pretty much reminds me of watmore, he makes some good runs but struggles to change direction or use body language to fool defenders into thinking he is going a different way so often just seems to run into people, give him a clear straight line ahead and he can cause some damage, maybe TM can employ some 'american football tactics' and use blockers.

i really want to see both embo and dan take more control in games, i think they could do it but need to have more confidence in their ability, as it is, they do tend to produce one or two good moments in a game then go missing...hopefully they will both turn in a couple of MotM performances and that will give them the boost they need.

I think you're being a little kind to Embo....Watmore has a turn of pace which Embo doesn't have.
Don't get me wrong...I'm a big fan of the lad....he lives round the corner from me.....and,as I've said,he's class with both feet which you don't see very often, but,I see him as a little behind now with his lack of pace.

one of those players he really needs something to go right for him, a couple of his shots to rocket into the top corner or something...his face seems to be saying 'how come i run myself into the ground and nowt goes in for me?'

but again, the talent is there he just needs to nurture it as a player.

He'll always be good with the game in front of him. He's a good passer, genuinely two footed and can score goals coming onto the ball. There is lot in this lad.
Agree. He needs to add more goals to his game if he's going to make it as a 10. I really like the lad and that goal and celebration at Wembley was every local lads' dream

He just needs awareness of what's around him.
He gets caught quite often in possession and looks shocked when it happens

Played out of position to accommodate Pritchard, who had even more of a shocker

Yeah, the 'experienced' pros were very poor last night. Embleton, Pritchard and Roberts flat and too predictable. Then all structure went in the last 20. We should really have lost if Blackpool had the bottle to go for it and then barring a worldy save, could have won it.

Pritchards loss of form, along with Gooch, are major worries, as both are important players. Not so much long term, but certainly atm.

Don't think Pritchard has had a good game since Neil left. Been poor in my opinion.
I think he has been patchy all season to be honest, at least when compared to last season. Last night was a problem with him and Embo wanting the same space. I have moaned enough on here about his inability to play 90 minutes. That is more of a problem when he is a number 10 and doesnt look like making major contributions. No goals this season I think, 2 assists. Isnt good enough really for someone whose job it is to do both. I hope he gets back to what he can be, but I am starting to worry about him. He is our best number 10 so I want him to do well.
