Because I have no idea what a gammon is ...to me it is a piece of ham with pineapple on.

    Is it derogatory?

Just asking you all to play nice isn't taking sides.

Anyway please let me sleep ...as this leftie has to get up early , as I have to get to London to pay some respect

P.s. ..gammon.it means someone with a flush face...because their angry. That's me most of the time when watching politics on TV then. And me now as I can't sleep and I need to get up in 2 hours

Gammon, woke etc are words made up to encourage more division. It obviously works. It's quite ironic that most people would fall into both categories. What one gets angry about, another may not and vice versa, its quite apparant on here to be honest. Anyways, got to get to work, there's no bank holiday for the self employed!!!!

I am in Hyde Park. I cannot quite put into words why I had to come, but I had too.

    Very moving to be here.
Now with the minute gun and the bell tolling, brings home what a momentus day this is

What an incredible city London is. The wealth of history it holds is unequalled. It's by far the greatest city in the world.

Well done to the eight pall bearers, what a nerve wracking thing to have to do with the eyes of the world upon you, they never put a foot wrong.

Well I can’t say I found the day particularly moving but it was certainly spectacular and immaculately done, all those involved in planning and execution did a brilliant job. I also learnt a lot about the history of different elements of the ceremonial, interesting stuff.

Big ask for the coronation to match it.

I guess if you're not a Royalist, there'd be no reason for you to find it moving.
Completely agree about the pomp and historical tradition.

I spent the day in Hyde Park with my youngest daughter.

I found it very moving. The response and empathy of the audience in Hyde Park was tangible. Previous to the funeral they showed a 2 hour ITV documentary on the big screen showing the Queen's life which showed a real person, a real life...which made the funeral all the more poignant

I think being there when the minute gun and the bell was tolling...was spine chilling.

I really believe it is the end of an era...its the end of a good era, and I do believe we will not see these times again.

I am so glad I went, I havenever felt quite so close to my ( adult) daughter as I did today. However, I am really sad about what I believe is to come.

I hope I am wrong. I do not think I am...we will see the break up of the commonwealth very soon I believe

Blimey Beth, that's quite a statement.
I think that, once sympathy for Charles decreases, he will find it increasingly difficult to emulate his mother.
However, I believe William and the immaculate Kate will revive the Monarchy when their time comes.
