If thats the case why is an extremely capable CB who also played very well last season sat on the bench still.....
Well why aren't the fans as up in arms as they are about Ingram? I don't see a thread purely calling for any of the CBs to be replaced or people posting comparison stats etc.... Will people complain as much when we have a keeper in who apparently distributes better( which I'm not sure ye does) and commands his box more ( yes he does do this better) but isn't as good at shot stopping, then doesn't save as many as Ingram has this season so far and we drop more points etc because he doesn't save the shots Ingram could/would? The time to change is probably now, but for some stupid reason the claws where out for Ingram when he was still keeping us in games which was stupid
It's the okd adage, and has been mentioned several times by former keepers, when an outfield player makes a mistake he has 10 other players on the pitch who can come to his rescue, alas when a goalkeeper makes a mistake it invariably ends in the net and is highlighted as such. Enough of us here are asking for McLaughlin to come in, to even change from a 5 to a 4, but I do think Ingrams performances over the last couple of ganes have been nervy, resulting in 2 obvious clangers that gifted goals, thereby highlighting his mistakes. There have been other wobbles during these games too, and think it's only fair Baxter gets a chance.
And as I've said a few times since last night....the time to change is now. I was a keeper during my career and have coached / scouted keepers for years since then as well, I know the age old stuff about mistakes etc and trust me I've been there when I've made a mistake and everyone instantly forgets all the saves made before it to win games or to keep a draw etc. It's mentally very tough.
When was the last time Ingram came to catch a ball from a corner? He reminds me of a poor man's Boaz Myhill. Good shot stopper but lead in his boots.
Good shout. Then again our last really good consistent keeper was probably Tony Norman. Could be wrong like.
We have always been good with keepers imo, even in the old div 3 we had decent ones...at least since I started following.
Debatable. A few have been good to decent. Myhill,Mussy,McGregor (maybe) all pretty solid. Arguably no where near as good as Norman though..that was my point.
Fair play...just rated TN better. Vaguely remember as a kid the oranges thrown at McKecknie.. ( South stand)
He was very good, consistent with it. Played in an FA cup final for the Mackems the season a after leaving. He had to regretfully pull out of Gareth Roberts testimonial at BP as his services were required in Wembley. First time I saw Barmby play that night, Only game I ever watched from the posh stand seats (though saw a few from the well). We were encouraged onto the pitch that night also. Roy Carroll anyone ?
