People don't go to Buckingham Palace because they want a monarch. . That's not why they go there. By that logic people that go to Versailles go there because they want to guillotine monarchs.... And guess which place gets the most tourists... I've never once heard anyone in America say they want their own monarch... And Americans love to talk about the royal family when they meet an Englishman. Lots of them liked the Queen, most seem to like her (lots hate Charlie though... They blame him for Diana, even though that whole think is more Lizzie's fault). Some of them are fascinated by the royal family and follow every news story... None have ever said they want their own Queen to me.. I do get lots of questions asking "why do you still have a Queen in the 21 century?" Which is hard to answer. Britain one of the few places to have got rid of the monarchy and wanted it back. If Cromwell wasn't such a twat, we probably would be Kingless today.
