The win against chelsea seems like a distant memory. The 5.2 scoreline flattered Brentford and it's always been a hard place for us to go anyway. We were shafted by two var decisions, actually three if you count the foul not given on Summerville and 9 times out of ten when your goalie comes lashing out the ball usually ends up out of play and not to the opposition. Anyway, I''m putting it down to a bad day at the office and a few costly misses.<ok>

Morning all.

Haven't seen the match as was on a long haul flight but reading through the comments it seems we weren't anywhere near as bad as the scorelines suggests and looking at the stats they definitely read like a team that put in a decent away performance.

69% possession
17 shots at goal
6 shots on target

It's also probably worth remembering that Jesse was all about developing our style and improvement from game to game this season so it does look like we're on the right track.
Like I say Jammy the score flattered them. Even in our Championship days we found it a hard ground to play at. There were a couple of glaring misses, but var really did undo us. Hope you had a good trip.<ok>

I was pleased with our performance yesterday. We were undone by some schoolboy errors. Can’t blame them on anyone other than who caused them . I’m sure the main culprits are aware themselves this morning how poor they were

Honestly I think footballers understand that these things happen. It only becomes demoralising when it becomes a habit.

it’s fans who don’t often seem able to comprehend that there’s often a discrepancy between performance and result.

I’m never happy that we’ve lost but I’m fine that we went to Brentford and largely controlled the game before getting starched by VAR, running into what will likely be Ivan Toney’s game of the season and then committing Hari kari while chasing the game.

Of course we need the points but Give me that over parking the bus and getting battered every week hoping for a lucky point.

Just my opinion, but I don’t think any of our centre halves are really up to scratch. It’s such a critical position in any team but hugely so in ours because the way we play is going to leave them exposed at times.

I think struijk could be good enough but had a loss of confidence. Llorente is a decent baller but a ditherer and easily out muscled. Koch is a good footballer but just not a natural defender in my opinion. Both might be internationals and might look good in other sides but I don’t think they’re right for us.

Coops is a good organiser and can still do a job, but it’s an area that needs investment.

in the meantime Jesse needs to work out how to protect them more.. something he discussed in the post match interview. Delicate balance with the way we want to play

Good CBs are the only reason Everton are picking up points

Wouldn't have mattered if he was 8ft tall the ball went around the end of the wall not over it.
Fair point but Giraffes don't just eat from the branches straight in front of them.

Seriously though as it was keeper's side you'd probably have needed all 10 in the wall to cover both sides of the goal.

No idea post some up if you have some <ok>

Does this glaring miss have to be seen as a negative then? This could be viewed as a great chance created, trust you seeing it as half empty ;)
Plausible I suppose but, “Bamford my brother you are finished” as the headline sort of gives away what you really meant.

I think the odd live game every 20 years or so would probably do you good mate. Keep you young and real if you know what I mean :emoticon-0102-bigsm
