I agree with the bit in bold, the rest is speculation. It's common for average premier league players getting to the end of their careers to drop to the championship, if he's demanding big wages he's not going to play football again until he changes his mind. Is it not possible for a talented player to have a bad few years mentally and to recover from it at the right club? If we brought him in to have a look and he was a sulky bugger who demanded to play we wouldn't sign him. If he was willing to be backup to Cirkin I don't see the problem.
Another good thing to consider, we only technically have Diallo and Simms on loan, Michut has an option buy at the end of his deal and the rest we have bought. Compare that to forest who had 5 loans last year, so needed to buy 5 just to get back to a starting 11. I would say that's good business from us
Yep, agree with this. Dajaku has had a tough time here with injuries/illness and I'm not sure that he would have been signed on a permanent deal had we not had to by the terms of his loan appearances. He certainly has ability, is another who gets us up the pitch quickly. He also sees a pass and is a decent finisher. He's got time on his side, he's here and can cover a few positions. Ultimately, it may not work out for him here but he's a useful option at this point in time.
Stoke have 6 loans Think Forest had numerous player contracts up and the calibre of their loanees was always going to be difficult to replace. Strange that they chose not to sign Garner and Spence who have gone for less than £30m combined yet have thrown money at players never proven in England. Notably though their 3 CB’s are still their championship CB’s and had an absolute horror show yesterday.
Stewart must be worth 20 million, now. I can't see Blackburn paying that, but if they can afford it, we would surely accept it. Somebody is going to be our first big sale, at some point.
Nixon can **** off. He'd be more likely to go to one of the 3 PL clubs mentioned in the article rather than Blackburn
He has to be up to double figures like. Even close to 15m. He looks to have made the step up with ease. Actually becoming all round and a total beast in the final third. Still young, doesn't seem to get injured ever. Must be a new deal soon. The close it gets to the last 12 month (option) you'll get all sorts of bloodhounds on the sniff.
Injured ever..... I'm not superstitious but hope you had your fingers crossed when you typed that Prehab
Yep. He's a player who will always try and improve and it shows. He's already looking like a very good Championshio striker, with a very good and improving all round game. But he is 26, has not been getting good money for long, and he will want rewarding. I imagine the players all got a lift after promotion, but strikers always get the big bucks. I think it would also make financial sense to sort this out ASAP. Player happy, asset value protected etc.
Agree. Have to think he is coming into his best years, maturing very quickly. Be interesting to see how the club handles it with their sustainability approach. Didn't bow to Neil, wonder if they will Stewart.
I'd like to think there's room in our existing sustainable approach for this. Surely we could give him a big pay rise, making him our highest paid player and still be within a reasonable limit. Unless he's holding out for top end Championship money which would maybe be beyond us just yet.
