It's a fickle world being a footy fan, all based on opinions. Personally, I'm yet to hear a strikers name mentioned that we could afford, even on a free, they demand such high wages due to no transfer fee. Yes we will be lucky to get 10 goals from Dykes but we are scoring goals from other positions on the pitch. We have been playing with two no.10s who are on fire these last couple of games. Our error last season was not having any suitable replacements for those 2, rather than not having a striker. In Roberts and Richards I believe we have those areas covered. I do agree that the left back situation isn't perfect and that would have been a priority for me but who is going to loan us a player who isn't going to play unless Paal is injured. Who would we sign, even half decent to warm a bench?
All good points Bob. In any window you rarely get all you want unless you’re a big four EPL club.
We have done remarkably well in our dealings, with signings mostly making good impact. Roberts and Richard’s with stuttering starts are still to be seen, but fit and playing to the system they should slot in well enough. The striker position is a concern and will be a challenge. When goals or injuries stall from our other areas I’m sure there will be plenty of ‘told you so’s’ out there - fair game. I’d rather have goals from around the park than just one key player - the opposition will always find it harder to snuff out our scoring ability when there are 5 or six wanting scoring opportunities. Injuries still leave others ready to score. Also opportunity to tighten up our defence and get that elusive clean sheet (hence we do need cover for Paal). At the end of the day it’s about how many goals we have put away at the end of the year and how few we let in.
Reasonably happy with where we are - though I would have liked a striker - but I’d rather wait for a good prospect than a waster.
Now Dykes … please mate, find your scoring boots against Swansea.

That sums it up well for me. For some reason, I have been, and remain, more worried about Nico covering for Paal than finding another centre forward. Whilst Dykes' misfiring is frustrating, there is no guaranteed, affordable solution to that problem and I am reassured by the firepower elsewhere in the squad.

There was talk of this Villa player Tim, coming before the season started, apparently he is good according to Villa mates, so why did it take 2 months. He could have been bedded in by now, ripping up teams like Blackpool and Rovrum

From the info on the offy site he is clearly highly valued by the villains (they gave the 19-year old a 5-year contract). Seems they have been running the rule over him as he has been on the bench for many first team games - so close but no cigar. I’m guessing once they felt he could get more experience away, they let Timpal come to us. Will be interesting to see what he’s like in a hoops team.

Feeling positive about the transfer window. Mainly because we didn't lose anyone plus our team seems more exciting and has more players coming into the team (when fit). Also looking forward to hearing chants about the man known only as 'Tim'

I do admire your optimism pal but Dykes is mildred and always will be. Bonne is league 1 standard and Armstrong needs games under his belt. Roberts ain't a goalscorer, look at his misses for Leeds their akin to Dykes. Hopefully he can nab a few and set up a few but we desperately needed a goalscorer and a left back. Injuries to Willock or Chair and either full back especially Paal, would leave us in a grim state. We've seen what happens when Willock is out, it's like someone's blown out the candle, get the prayer mats out and hope we get some serious luck on the injury front. We are due some

Who dafak is Mildred?

He’s a defensive mid, so it’s him v Field.

Not necessarily, from what I've mostly seen of our midfield (especially in the last 2 games) they are working as a unit shuffling across the pitch to cover the area of play. Field Dozzell and Johanson have all been acting as defensive midfielders.

Seen this?
Why on earth has it gone so bad with this player after a positive start?

Because he wanted to go back to Ipswich but that's life. I want to know who the player was we thought we were signing last night but it fell through ! Bonne had passed his medical at Charlton and was about to sign when we suddenly pulled the plug. We were obviously in talks with a free agent and we couldn't agree personal terms. An all round **** up, thst leaves us the striker short if what we needed and a guy who doesn't want to be here sitting on the bench or in the stands while we pay his wages !

There are somethings that would be absolutely fascinating to know but we never will.
