Fair enough, we have now conceded the most goals in the league.

However, it's hard to maintain any form of consistency if we're losing a player a game to injury. We can't do anything about injury, it happens to every club (though not this severe it must be said), so we have to go with what we have. And if you're left with the likes of Cannon, Williams and an only just returned Longman, they'll battle manfully but in this league they'll almost always come up short.

The tactics have to change defensively during this injury crisis, no question and if it were up to me, I'd be playing 4-4-2 to choke out the midfield. But Shota clearly wants three at the back so we can have a five depending on where the play is.

Completely agree, and this is the point I was trying to make previously. We seem a bit tactically naive but so be it.

everyone who plays us has worked us out - Greaves, Jones and Fig **** about at the back, under hit passes between them and progressively being pushed backwards and panicking into passing back to Ingram who is also put under pressure to hoof it into touch - all 3 of them want a huge kick up the arse and told to stop dicking about because they are not good enough - just get rid of / pass the ball up field - it's depressing to see them do it over and over and over again

Pretty sure a beast of a DM enforcer would make a difference to solidity, but Woods made a difference when he was brought on at HT. Looks like Shota held his hands up and accepted it was the wrong decision not to start him. Fair enough. Most managers wouldn't have.

So maybe he didn't have to be 6k miles away to spot it. ;)

Absolutely and much like the players, Shota is still learning this league too. Everything this season is going to be a learning curve, from the owners and board members to the manager to the new players. Greaves taking on a captaincy role, some players learning English, this is a foundation of a squad, not the one that'll take us up.

Definitely not our weakness at the moment yet it’s what we are targeting mainly for the remainder of the window

We've said we want a midfielder too.

Let's see what type of midfielder it is.

Tonight is a handy wake up call though and conceding the most goals in the league is a concern. We've got 2 days to fix it.

Although 2/3 goals are easy to eradicate as we were caught on it. It's much easier to fixed than if we're being carved open at will

Funny how you seem to make agreement adverserial.

You've spent the last hour trying to argue that my criticism of how open we've been in games is hindsight or knee jerk, and then turned around and praised the manager for changing the tactics at HT tonight. Maybe instead of going into autopilot and disagreeing with me out of the blocks, you could have started by agreeing and praising Shota for changing things up and cut out about a dozen needless posts.

From what we've seen, the foundation of this squad really isn't far away from being a promotion contender.

The issue is they aren't fit and the back ups aren't Championship players

I didn't think we we're as open as you suggest. Don't usually agree with Shark but it's more about errors than being carved open at will.

The back ups are Championship quality, the issue is they're injured too. <laugh>

When everyone's fit, players like Tetteh, Woods, Jones, Longman etc. would be our back up, but at the moment they're starting.

Our midfielders tonight combined for ZERO tackles… if we don’t address it these nights will become a regular thing
