Think it will be, I think he’s a really good player anyway and I’ve made no secret I think we’re letting the wrong LB go but that’s a chat for another day I guess. Tripps done brilliant out there and it’s familiar surroundings again for Reguilon, think both player and club will enjoy it.

I know you rate him but the fact nobody including Madrid want to buy him and it’s a loan deal with no buy clause shows there isn’t much demand for him.

There’s plenty of money in Europe so that’s not a reason he hasn’t been sold and only on loan.

He’s literally joining the third best club in Spain… saying “nobody wanted” is a bit silly, especially as others were linked.

Plenty of money in Europe? You may wanna take a look around. Europe’s skint.

Yeah he’s got a good move, imo he’s very lucky to be joining them but La Liga and Atletico’s defensive style may suit him. I hope he does well and it results in a decent fee for Spurs next summer, but like Lo Celso, Winks and Ndombele, I expect the club will be seeing him back next summer.

Who actually bidded for him though, most links are just made up for clicks these days. He’s been available all summer and I don’t think anything concrete happened until Atletico needed a new left back, he certainly wasn’t on their list a week or 2 ago.

I don’t see what’s lucky. In his season at Sevilla he established himself as one of La Liga’s top LBs and he won the Europa with them. Came here and became one of the top five LBs in the Prem especially his first season, stats even back it up. Now he’s heading back to Spain to join one of the top teams. He’s a good player but for some reason isn’t fancied here, I’m happy to trust Conte’s decision even if I disagree with it.

Forest, Fulham and Lazio were interested, sounds like he rejected Forest too which prompted them to move for Lodi. Atleti wouldn’t move for him though would they if there were keeping their LB? There’s loads of good players at the moment who haven’t had bids for either but are expected to move/ be subject of moves. Ronaldo’s literally the joint GOAT and no one’s made an offer despite the fact he’s been whoring himself out for months, Tielemans is still at Leicester, you’d expect someone will bid for Zaha too and no doubt like usual deadline day will be manic. Plus as I said, Europe is skint, it’s why so many moves are loans/ loans with options or obligations.

Fair enough. I just don’t rate and never have. Always looks like he’s got a mistake in him and not good enough at either end of the pitch for me.

If he goes there and learns how to defend properly under Simeone then everyone’s a winner.

Conte is ruthless and makes his mind up quickly on players, he must have seen something he didn’t like about Reguilon, because to choose Sess over him when Sess has been disappointing would be bizarre otherwise.

He ain’t perfect by any means but when looking at the LBs in the Prem, there aren’t many I’d take over him. Quite like the look of Utd’s new LB though, already seems league’s above fatboy Shaw.

I think it could be a HG decision and partly down to the fact Sess is three years younger so there’s hope he’ll come good. Whether he does or not though is something we’ll find out this season. Though signing Udogie for next season could also be a sign that the club are thinking beyond Perisic and that Sess isn’t nailed on to be his successor.

Nico Schira reckons Sampdoria will have a €25m buy option for Winks.

Mate we’ll have to pay them €25m to take him <laugh>

Sampdoria having €25m is the main story there, considering I don't believe they've played a second of European football in five years

Id still take Sess over Reguilon even if they were the same age and both home grown. Like you say Perisic is going to be first choice this season and then hopefully Udogie will do well when he comes in.

I think Reguilon's miles better to be honest. I've really wanted it to work for Sess but he's been one of our worst players since he joined and I've seen little signs of improvement, even if people don't like Reguilon he hasn't been close to being near our worst in my opinion.

Udogie looks really good, has insane stats for a 19 year old LWB in Serie A. When he returns, if he can bring that form here I think fans will really take to him.

I think this makes sense for all parties. Regulion is far from a bad player, especially as a LB rather than LWB, and after a year in Spain he will have suitors with 2 years left on his contract. Plus, if the worst should happen and Conte walks out and we bring in a new manager who wants to work with Reggie, then we get him back.

Destiny looks like quite the find too, he could be a proper weapon if he keeps developing.

What's happened with the Ukrainian midfielder we were apparently looking at a week or so ago?

It's reckoned that he's our second/third choice and that we're trying for some other players and waiting to see if there are any VdV type bargains available at the end of the window. If they come to nothing, we pull the trigger on Malinovskyi, who is very keen on the move.
