scoring will inevitably dry up
if oscar continued in this vein, he'd have more than 45

and our shot to goal ratio is 27% by far the highest in the league
once that drops to more average numbers, suddenly points are looking hard to come by

Well, look on the bright side. Should score 45 in league 1 when we're inevitably relegated.

Figueiredo yesterday gave me anxiety every time he had the ball in possession and passed it around at the back. Greaves and Alfie sometimes fart-arse too much but Figueiredo stood out as poor and nervous yesterday.

My son supports Nottingham Forest and gave me the lowdown when we signed him - good hard-working honest pro, he'll score you a few goals but he has the occasional mistake in him; that's why he's with us and not with Forest in the PL; I think he'll prove a good signing.

Like the Hernandez song...

He's Oscar, (whoah whoah)
He's Oscar, (whoah whoah)
He came from Portugal
To score the goals for Hull*

There was a move yesterday which I think led to the third goal. Brilliant bit of simple passing to get us out from the back and in behind them leading to Coyle being free on the right wing.

Fact is, this is just how almost every team plays now. Coaches have realised that this is the best way to get the ball forward. Hoofing it more often than not just means that it will come straight back and put you under pressure. We don't have to fully understand it, but I think we do have to accept that this is just considered the best way to play by all of the experts nowadays, and shouting for them to just put the laces through it is just dinosaur stuff.
Oh in that case Shota better stop reading this forum to get his best tactical information he might not want to know that it’s not a good idea to hoof it forward

Are you just ignoring yesterday's game? I can only remember Ingram making one save, it was actually a quiet game in terms of chances, certainly not a typical 5-goal game. I know it always has to be Coyle or Elder's fault but Christ, what do you want them to do about us conceding from a corner and a penalty?

We're consistently exposed down our sides. You can say that yesterday was fine, but the opposition didn't have decent wingbacks/wingers. Any side that is strong on those areas have crippled up.

Clearly the club believe we need to strengthen in the full back areas, as they've just signed Christie and want a LB too. It's not a position we're numerically short in those positions either. We've got Longman and Williams who can play as wing backs, plus there's Fleming who is to come back and Josh Emmanuel too (whenever that may be). There's clearly a believe that the options we have just aren't good enough

We looked pretty solid down our flanks yesterday. Unfortunately we were very sloppy in possession and invited them into dangerous areas by giving the ball away cheaply. Defensively they’re good enough but in possession I don’t think they are but for the time being they’re doing a commendable job. Getting forward more too now. Like the disallowed Cov goal yesterday, Elder played a shocking pass to Slater and if not for an early run from Godden we’d have been punished. That was our issue yesterday, we gave them a platform to be in the game, the first 20 we were cruising

I couldn't understand 1st half why we kept going short from goal kicks. They were giving Figs time but then using the press on the 2nd or 3rd phase really nicely. They were forcing errors and that brought them into the game and we just got sloppier. It's not like we don't have 2 very good hold up men either, but 2nd half we started going longer and those issues cleared.

I do prefer playing out from the back but there's a time and place. And once they're causing us problems with it, you've got to switch.

Woods’ diagonals in behind the full back were causing all sorts of problems, and like you said here the press in the 2nd and 3rd phase caused them all sorts of issues and set our tempo. Love Shota’s pragmatic approach, we’ve been a direct side since the injury crisis came about really utilising Tetteh’s strengths to get us higher up.

Similar with some national bias and a little nod to Tetteh as well

Great first 3 lines. 4th, not so much ;)

I'm on hols this week so gave my pass to a friend, who doesn't live in this country but is visiting so basically, a neutral, but supporting City for this match. He supports a Serie A team where he lives, so comparisons may not fare well, but anyways...

His comments were:

1st half:
Oscar played well, so did #15 (Woods). The defence needs changing.

2nd half:
#5 and #6 are rubbish.

Brief and to the point I guess. Not sure how fair this is as I didn't watch it, other than the highlights.

Absolutely baffles me how our fans seem so keen for a reason to drop him. Baxter really isn't a better keeper. We are lucky to have a fantastic crop of quality keepers throughout most levels at the club
I don’t think it’s unjust to say he’s better given our form with Baxter vs without last season. Although suggesting Ingram should be dropped at the minute is utterly ridiculous. I think Baxter is marginally better but not much in it and am happy regardless unlike some on here who blame Ingram for every goal we concede

Alfie didn’t look great 1st half but Fig certainly stood out as poor out of the three centre-halves all game. He does have a mistake in him. He actually looks more comfortable in a back 4 despite Forest fans saying he’d need to play in a back 3.

His pass selection was baffling at times. That was the main thing, not really the defending side bar the rash challenge for the penalty. Whole game he was just doing hospital passes
