Agree.... it should never get this far in first place. This year not likely to go up anyway so if can replace with someone decent or better not so bad.
Hypothetically speaking, wouldn’t that affect the respect that the players and the fans have for him and make his job harder going forward. His record with PNE took a dive after he used interest from Stoke to get a better longer deal there.
The journos should find out who the presser is with before the 4pm start time. I'd expect things to leak out in the next half hour.
imagine if they didnt appoint him but he was very clearly wanting to go. the club would have no option but to remove him. position would be untenable
If he has spoken to Stoke he might aswell be replaced to me. With all respect to PNE and Stoke they are similar sized club, we are a step above and if everything is OK in the job he shouldn't be entertaining speaking to them.
The truth is, he's on a 1 year deal. He can basically do as he sees fit. His family still live in Cheshire. He could double his wage and sign a 4 year deal with either us or Stoke. The club might have no choice in letting Stoke speak to him due to the contract he initially wanted.
Haha, I'm on Turkey time mate, my mistake 2pm back home. Apologies Tbf, I hit the Vodkas early today when all this **** started on Twitter.
my nuance here is there are different levels of "speaking to". If he's pitching for the role and doing a presentation etc - then I agree, he's done for me. If he's on a phone call with them out of courtesy to at least hear them out, before letting them down gently - thats fine. If a recruiter calls me I almost always speak to them about the role for a few mins just out of courtesy, as you never know when you might need that recruiter again.
Has he spoken to stoke? Has he asked for permission? A., I can find is clickbait ****ers all over twitter saying it and people on here falling for it. If stoke asked for permission and the club say yes, why wouldn’t he? Again, I have no idea whether that’s happened. Seems our fan base (and an awful lot of occasional posters on here) are of the most negative outcome opinion. I’ll wait to see what happens
I'd argue the opposite. To me, this happening would reinforce that the DOF model is the right way to go as managers are so unreliable that we need someone to be looking out for our long term needs as a club. Neil only accepted the contract 6 months ago and he would have got a pay rise/bonus upon promotion. If it's about money, then it feels like he's the one who has been disingenuous.
I really don't get ppl blaming kld and the other board members for this. When Neil came in he must have been happy with this rolling contract or he would have never signed it. He's a very strong minded bloke and if wasn't happy with the situation he would have walked away from it. Personally I think he's now playing with the club to get a better contract. I hope I'm right but if not we have to believe in kld as he's transformed the club as well along with Neil.
