It really isn't, lack of investment has been endemic since I started work - regardless of party. As the old saying goes - "there's no votes in drains".

You're only aware of the situation now due to a sudden desire to politicise it and use it a stick to beat the incumbent government.

Frankly, Govt shouldn't be involved in any infrastructure - each Govt (regardless of party) is too short term for meaningful planning. Hence delays on projects like Crossrail due to flip flopping by consecutive governments - it's a bit like having CC in charge .....
