The rules changed a few years back to stop cynical **** like that. Like I said, Xhaka got sent off for it a few years ago for exactly the same. Uncontrolled lunge with no thoughts other than taking him out.

Obviously the rules have changed
 
I think the ref came to a sensible outcome, saved spoiling what has been a good game, regardless of whether it should or not of been a red. Commonsense prevailed.

Someone says we can have a player for 30m and you can bang on the money guarantee Newcastle would offer 25m just to ensure we don't get it over the line. Then our lot claps the clubs "strategy in the market."
