Nah it was definitely being quoted as the fee for a permanent.. highly doubt any championship clubs are going to be paying anywhere near £500k to loan someone, baring in mind Everton paid around that to loan DVDB from united last season.
PS can’t see a shred of reality in any of the previous reports that Simms was available for £500k. Not a chance. everton has just spent over a million giving Broadhead a new deal so they can try to sell him for more than that. They’re not selling simms for anything less than £5m
As I said before not only do I not believe Simms was available for £500k I doubt Everton were even thinking of him going permanent. Of course he could be bought but I don't think he was for sale with any figures mentioned I reckon that was all paper talk!
Look at the amount of players they’ve got rid of for nout over the last 2 seasons, they needed/still need to reduce their wage bill. Hopefully will go in our favour come the end of the season if we want him permanently with only a year left on his contract
Isnt good enough to get on bench ahead of their other CMs. Hes been on the bench this season because mooy or hatete have missed games
On the flip side, every single Championship club, SPL club and some of the ambitious League One clubs would have bid £500k if that was the price to get him permanent.
How have you came to that conclusion? Half the teams in the championship haven’t spent a single penny on transfer fees so far. You’re hardly going to be on the radar of every team in England because you scored 5 goals in the SPL..
He was highly rated at Hearts last year, at Blackpool the year before and he's scored for fun at all youth levels. I'd say every Championship club would have been aware of him, given that's what they pay scouts for. Certainly, he was linked with Blackpool, Millwall, Huddersfield, Hearts and Rangers this summer - all on loan with the exception of Hearts (the Scottish Sun reported he would be available for £500k - the only source I can see linking to your rumoured price).
Just off quickly searching on google in the 30 seconds I could be bothered to scroll down its came up The sun, Herald Scotland, Journo from the Mirror, all over the Everton boards that they were asking for that. It could all be nonsense, I’m not saying it isn’t, just saying I can’t see there being smoke without fire. Those teams were interested in the loan probably because it meant no fee and minimal wages. I’m sure most clubs would be interested in any premier league player on loan if you haven’t got to pay for them. He’s relatively unproven and is in their u23s so a massive fee just doesn’t really seem sensible. Broadhead was the best striker in their u23s for years and he’s never been near the first team, maybe they thought it’ll be the same for Simms so would accept £500k and a 25% sell on fee?
Think I or someone posted on here, re Simms, from his x Everton coach... The 21-year-old has caught the eye in recent loan spells, after scoring 41 goals in 44 games for the Toffees’ U18 team. Everton U23s Assistant John Ebbrell previously lauded the young gem, saying: “What I do know with Ellis, if he ends up one-vs-one with the goalkeeper, he’s scoring. “From experience, I know if you have time to think for that finish it can be difficult but Ellis is really calm and composed in those situations. He very rarely misses.”
Simms will be one of those that will go up to January before making any offer for him.. That's good for the lad and the club to do the deal then if there's one to be had.
Haven't seen that one mate but iirc he scored about 30 goals in 20 games in one u18 season. You can tell he knows where the back of the net is and I’d hedge my bets that once we’ve had half a season to compare them both his finishing is better than Stewarts. 2 strikers that will compliment each other massively through their own individual strengths
Don't mention admin mate. had a week off and back tomorrow to about 400 emails, reviews and general day to day stuff.
