He should've been starting anyway ffs, what have people been watching ? I want to know why Beale is keeping him on the bench for so long, totally unacceptable tonight.
From what I saw today I'd agree, but at least he's big and strong and will occupy defenders and create chances for others. Would like to see him up front with Chair, Field and co flooding up to support him.
Few and far between. Most of our crosses were awful imo. I don't actually think we played too badly and Blackpool are better than some are giving them credit for imo. Simply must leave out Dykes, start Armstrong and get Willock back asap.
I think once Armstrong scores his first goal for us you'll see something truly frightening. Yes that right, me jumping out of R Block starkers with my tackle flapping in the wind like a glowworm at a rave !
What I saw was a lack of intelligence on and off the pitch, someone to go “Blackpool are doing this, so let’s do that”. Also I’m a bit bored and annoyed at all the digs from supposed QPR supporter at some QPR players that are not this season’s flavour. Both here and at the game, Laird did alright but I don’t think played better than Kakay has done, he did a few good things but I saw him twice over run the ball and a couple of mis control the ball buts let’s gloss over that cause he is in atm. Likewise with Dykes misses a couple and **** him off, but let’s over look Armstrongs miss. I wonder sometimes what team do some support in the stadium and on here.
Armstrong showed what a handful he can be, but his touch is poor at times. He's like a bulI in a china shop and will unsettle most defenders, but its doubtful that he could play with that intensity for 90 minutes. Having said that, the case for him starting on Saturday is undeniable.
So what ? Seriously man, wasn't Owen young and raw at 17 ? Give tge lad his head ffs, there's more potential there than Dykes could ever dream of. He'd already caused more havoc when coming on as sub this season in every game. The team improve, the crowd lifts and things happen. I'd happily never see Dykes play for us again, he's awful. Bonne is league 1 standard too, and we all know we need a proper striker. If we aren't getting one then give the lad the start he deserves, things will happen. Beale needs the balls to do it and not bring him on too late in games.
Armstrong is a real handful one on one with the ball down the line, dykes always seems to be one yard off the ball but works hard... Blackpool defended well to be fair, we struggled to break them down, 4 minutes injury time was a joke
Doesn't have to play for 90 minutes obviously. Start him and if needs be sub him after 60 or 70 mins. Others seem to play better with him on the pitch
I have bigged up Kakay this season and agree as it stands has played better than Laird however only been at club one day so not sure why he played tonight. However Dykes is dire, as well as sitter, had a one on one, Laird put one on a plate if he bothered moving, cannot even compare these chances with Armstrongs he was also pushed in the back with the diving header
I don't know if Armstrong will be a goal scorer, it's hard to say from 10 minutes here, 20 minutes there. I can say without any doubt, Dykes is not a goal scorer. He works hard but is mainly a back to goal centre forward. Armstrong has much more pace and is a lot more mobile on and off the ball. That first chance when dykes was put through but he got caught up and Roberts drilled in a shot, Armstrong would have been away not letting the defender catch him.
I said exactly the same didn't I? Beale just said that there's stuff he needs to work on....his first touch I'm betting and probably his finishing. Having said that, I absolutely agree that he should start on Saturday. Dykes is depressingly poor and will never be good enough imo.
I'm a big fan of Kakay, and he is improving but Laird is a step up on him atm. Laird only arrived yesterday and trained for 40 mins with the others. Saw enough tonight to see he'll be a big asset over the season. Dykes has been poor almost every game since injuring his foot last season. He'll never be a top striker, and is probably League 1 standard along with Bonne. We've been crying out for a decent goalscorer for a long time now, and if we aren't gonna get one in then we should give Armstrong the opportunity to see if he can become one. If he does , brilliant we've solved a major problem and found ourselves a huge young asset. If he doesn't , ok we've found it out and it hasn't cost us anything. It's a win win in my eyes and surely a gamble worth taking from what I've seen of our options !
Point taken, but it's hard not to criticise Dykes as he's so ****ing ****. Lots of people criticised Armstrong for his missed header actually. Laird looks a better player than Kakay imo, although the latter has improved. Shame he can't play left back as I thought Paal was disappointing.
Don't agree people are being overly harsh on Dykes. He didn't take the one chance that came his way, to give someone an unmissable tap in, but that isn't why I'd drop him. He looked exhausted and lackluster. He wasn't chasing the ball down or looking to make any runs in behind. Often he just stood there and hoped someone else would gather any scraps his touches left. He just didn't contribute anywhere near enough.
I never had any expectations at the start of the season, new manager, players leaving, players arriving etc etc. I do however believe that this will be a season with absolutely no rhythm. I don't think we will go and win, say, 3 games on the bounce or lose 3 on the bounce. It's going to be a season of picking 1 or 3 pts up here and there. With each season that passes, it becomes more difficult to fight for promotion. By the looks of it, we are not planning on spending a penny in the transfer market. If that's the plan then so be it but those expectations of mine will still be in the dark.
