…but, I’m thinking of buying a Philips PerfectDraft machine. One drawback already is the beers seem to be mostly lager and while I enjoy a pint of lager outside on a fine day, I prefer ale. Anyone had experience of this machine?
Wonder if a mod could change the thread title to "PerfectDraught" off topic. Might have more chance of them seeing it.
Sandy can do it. Under the thread title he'll see a drop down menu. If he clicks on that and then edit title, he'll be able to do it there.
Get yersel a bucket and some empty pop bottles an mak yer arn Stout. £13 for 40 pints. Mangrove jack's juicy IPA. £25 for 40 pints.
Ha. Aye. I have one. Great machines. Price of kegs slightly up did to fuel expense but still good to have. They do a few pales and a load of IPAS to be fair. They are really consistent. I have had 1 duff keg in about 3 year. By in multiples of 3 to get discount. They also do the pro machine now which is an upgrade if you like the beer at different temps. For pales and ipas etc. I just have the normal mshcind like as cold as possible is my preference.
Hello Sandy mate, aye I have one and love it. If you go on to Beer Hawk site it shows all their range, there's about 40 + kegs to choose from, lots of IPA and also some really heavy 8% stuff if you dare. Try the Hoppy Keg pack of 3 different ales, and just keep trying stuff. Good luck, mind it goes neewhere in this weather like.
Remember you get £5 per keg returned too. So whilst it may look expensive initially you need factor that in.
It’s over 30 years ago I started I brewed my own barrels of beer best yorkshire bitter I had all the gear including gas canister thermos and stuff The beer even though I say so myself was superb I’ve never breed now for maybe over 25 years Got rid of all the gear
I dabbled years ago then restarted a few years back. Kept my kit and added more. Some of the kit beers now are top notch. A bloke I work with got back into it after I mentioned I did it and he's gone up a notch buying kegs, and converting fridges into kegorators etc. I might go down that route one day as I fookin hate bottling. 2ltr bottles make it easier. Couldn't be arsed with 500ml anymore, and I'm getting rid of them. And now I drink wine , £20 to £43 for 30 bottles is a no brainer Trouble is I might sink 4 pints and 2 bottles of wine some nights
First line I'm saying the tags aren't working so you don't get notified when you are tagged in a post @Nig Second line, I thought who better to know about making ya own booze than our resident piss heed
There’s loads of choice for the PD machines. I’ve got a Blade. The kegs are bigger but they’re more expensive and there is limited choice compared to the PD. Only got the Blade as prefer Heineken and Moretti over Stella and Becks. Didn’t know you got money back from returning empty kegs tho. That makes the PD even better value
You’ve pinched the words out of my mouth mate. I did the same. Bought can of the Best Yorkshire Bitter syrup from Wilko’s and made it with dark muscovado sugar. Into a barrel with gas injector. Poured a pint you couldn’t distinguish from pub beer. Had mates and lads from work suddenly turning up on my doorstep to “see how I was keeping”!
