What if all the ones still here haven’t had an increase? Not good for team harmony and I would think honeyman had a good case for wanting parity.
I'm not sure but I heard it was more to do with him not wanting to play off the bench and not so much about money. Could be wrong and we will likely never know.
I still don't think that can be pinned on Shota. Rodwell and Tan would be negotiating with the agent not the manager.

From about three different interviews with them I’ve read, Honeyman was originally spoken to by Millwall at the end of the season, before we triggered his extension, before we’d spoken to him about a new contract, despite the reports they’d opened contract talks, another interview said he basically wanted more money than we were offering, plus the last was game time, although I can’t remember if that was part of the money interview or not.
Smallwood was said to want a longer deal than we offered, then I read he’d not even been offered the deal, I think, him & Eaves were similar details.
Either way, the only people who know what actually happened are themselves & the negotiations team.
That would reflect very poorly on him if he didn’t back himself to get in the team. I reckon he was as influential as KLP last season, and our main creative force. If we lacked creativity last season than were even worse off now.
Honeyman has said himself it was about how much we offered and how it made him feel disrespected.
He specifically said he left on good terms. You really think Milwall offered a great deal more than we did? He wanted parity with Seri and Tufan. He went somewhere he was on parity with their higher earners as he felt it was an indication of his value to that squad. If we'd signed them on 16k then he'd have probably taken our offer. He just didn't want to be here on 2/3rds what we gave them.
Not necessarily, no. He's at a stage of his career where he needs to be playing and he's gone to a good club.
The suggestion he just wanted to be a big fish in a small pond (parity with highest earners) is a bit of a strange one if he's signing for the same $$ as we were offering (which I didn't believe to be the case).
Surely this is the best time to sack the manager, that way we can employ one of the other ten Championship managers available after being sacked because their team lost to a lower division side this week.
Got any source on that, as all I remember reading was that we offered double his existing wages (Tan interview) and he accepted the same amount as we offered at Millwall.

There was 3 separate interviews I’ve seen, all on here somewhere, first one was before we triggered his extension or spoke to him about a new contract, after the last game of the season basically, Millwall spoke to him & made him feel wanted, or along those lines.
Next one was about money, & he felt he deserved more, third one was about playing time, although not too sure if that was him or another player TBH.
Shota wanted him to play at right wing back and he didn’t fancy it. That’s why he engineered a move.
