Given how hot and dry the summer has been I just wonder if Crane will have a part to play in our last 3 CC matches. The downside is it would weaken our batting line up as either Fuller or Holland would be the one to make way. But conditions could be ideal for spin if this weather keeps up for the next few weeks. I would be tempted to prepare a dusty pitch against Northants.

Inexcusable to be bowled out with 10 overs remaining TBH.

You have to hand it to them, whatever the format they certainly never give up. I just hope that the one time we were on the wrong end of such a result (Essex away) is not going to ruin our chance of winning the Championship this season (or the 2 points we've been deducted due to slow over rates).

A brilliant result! I feel that Northants snatched defeat from the jaws of victory, but hey, Hampshire won!

I was toying with the theory that Saints and Hampshire are either end of a results see-saw, so a good run of form by Hampshire equates to a series of dire performances by Saints. This was borne out during July, when Hampshire seemed to win everything, followed by Saints opening day defeat at Spurs. I was almost hoping that Hampshire would get today wrong, and they nearly did. However, as Hampshire have turned today's result around, I am confidently (probably the wrong word) expecting a 4-3 defeat by Leeds, after Saints go 3-0 up. It could never happen (twice).

That would have been impressive enough from our full strength bowling attack, let alone the guys we did have out there. Our batters properly sold them up the river by leaving so many overs unbowled, and I think Northants were only missing two players to the 100 (plus Lewis due to his loan agreement).

Are you referring to the differently weighted (but no less valid) person of non-specific gender orientation, or the fat lady?

WHAT??? I assumed Northants were going to win when they needed 20 odd with 5 wickets left and turned off.

I think that what happened is that both teams, with the collusion of the umpires, decided that they wanted to finish early enough to ensure that they could catch the ferry off the Island. I mean, no one wants to be unexpectedly stuck on the Isle of Wight overnight. Have you seen the hotel prices?
