Looking at Nixons recent article (says we were interested but we couldn’t gairentee game time after we got simms) it sounds to me our interest in Broadhead cooled a bit once bright Simms on

Wigan got 5 strikers 6 if Broadhead signs for them there no guarantee he get more game time there like at least we be to move on

It might be as simple as Wigan have told him that he immediately becomes their main striker and Sunderland have said that he will have to fight with Simms and Stewart.

Being 24 with very few games under his belt it might just be that he just thinks he will get more games at Wigan.

aye its pretty simple for me this.

We aren't such a big a draw that he'd rather be an impact sub here rather than their main striker.

I know people take the piss whenever I say squad numbers DO matter (a bit), but they really do. The second Ellis Simms was given number 9 it indicated to all and sundry that he was our main man. And the previous incumbent (Broadhead) wouldn't be. Even if that wasn't the case, that was the message sent to Everton, Broadhead, Simms, everyone.

I remember Bent twisting about having to have the No.11 shirt when he signed because Campbell had already taken No.9

This applies even more so if it ends up being a loan.

Just seen over the road that he played 15 out of a possible 46. I knew he had his injuries but I didn't think it was quite as bad as that.
He’s a cracking finisher the games he plays and maybe he’s got the injuries sorted but I wouldn’t go for a long contract on good money until there’s more certainty he’ll play.

He hasn't played a great deal of men's footy for someowho is 24. He isnt a kid anymore, its one of the reasons I'm a big fan of 17/18/19 year olds going out on loan. It toughens them mentally, and also physically. I'm sure I read somewhere that Lee Johnson was saying it's a bit of a mentality thing with Broadhead and the hamstring injuries, the docs were saying he was fine but he didn't 'feel right.
