Is it really a transition season though? We haven't sold anyone, and it is fairly standard for most teams in the league to be starting each new season with 3 or 4 new players in their team. I don't actually think - Bazunu aside - any of the new signings deserve to be starting against Spurs (maybe Aribo, and of course hopefully Mara if he plays well against Villarreal). Obviously I expect them all to play an increasingly important role as the season goes on, but it's not like we have an entirely new first team that needs to get to know each other.

This isn't 14/15 again when we'd just lost Lambert, Lallana, Lovren, Shaw and J-Rod (to injury). That was a proper transition season.
Aribo should be 100% starting against Spurs. And I expect Lavia to start as well. I'd say it is a transition season. Aribo aside, our debutants will be very young. Fans shouldn't expect a huge amount from them straight away.

But our first team last year is pretty bad for this level, and it’s got worse, so if you don’t think we have bought players to go immediately into it then surely we will initially struggle whilst the new players get up to speed and break into the team?

Isn’t that pretty much the definition of transition season? Replacing a lot of previous first team players whilst allowing new signings to settle?

How has it got worse though if we haven't sold anyone? We've lost Tino to injury, but that's about it.

There's a big difference in having to make the 'transition' over the entire season, and being forced to make it from the very start (like 14/15).

Broja has gone, you could argue Forster aswell depending on your opinion of him

Yeah, how'd I forget him?! Haha.

Okay, Broja is a significant loss, I grant you that. Forster not really for me. Still, in terms of out-going players, we haven't really suffered badly (in comparison to previous seasons).

The manager is the same, and the first team will mostly be the same. The only transition is that we will have more players/options to help us out. If we'd sold say, Salisu, Prowsie, and KWP, then we would be talking about a transition season. That's how I see it anyway. But fair enough if you think differently.

Same as SaintMagic says really

Last season's team wasn't good enough so the new players need to improve us, but there's quite a few and their all young and relatively inexperienced so they will take time to settle in
Plus let's not forget we've changed the entire coaching team, therefore that's a Transition

14/15 we lost some great players as well, this year its all about improving with what we have plus the new blood

Sometimes one or two key players can improve everyone and lets face it everyone needs to improve ... except KWP maybe?

Yet exactly the same sort of performance as last season. When are fans and the board going to wake up as to what the problem is?

Not even 5 o'clock on the first day of the season and Lincs is calling to sack the manager. :emoticon-0148-yes:

Careful mate, having an opinion on here that goes against the general consensus is dangerous.

(I'm with you, by the way)

Out.

I’m done.

He doesn’t have a clue. Djenepo, valery, Adarma obviously aren’t up to it.

Benched che for no reason. Bad decision after bad decision.

He can stay as a scout as he’s good at picking young players. Lavia and Bazunu look class. But as a manager he doesn’t have a scooby

I think we need to give him more than 1 game, but these are all valid points.

Given that the board have decided to back him he has to stay atm. I would give him a maximum of 6 games to stop the rot. If performances haven’t improved then I think he needs to go.

We have the arguably the toughest fixtures of all teams for the first 6 or so games. So I fully expect us to stay in / around bottom 3 throughout those.
For me I will be worried if we’re still there around game 12
