Presumably the 36.6million difference betwwen value and what we paid means that Wood is valued at -11mill.
**** me I’m in the wrong job If I submitted a piece like that at work I’d be straight out the door Total fantasy piece
I fall into this trap very occasionally. The current ongoing do not help but this is probably normal negotiations! We aren't scrambling for dross, we are targeting very good players. I look at Trippier, Bruno and Botman and I realise I'm being daft. Doesn't stop the Fat Ash anxiety creeping back in ha
Yeah, we're still after value, but are targeting players on a much higher shelf. Sometimes patience is the quality we need above all others. Got to trust our recruitment team.
****ing infuriating they've added NO offensive players across the entire of 2022. **** the excuses, bollocks to the fact they've done good things, this is really, really piss poor. For a team that's been terrible in attack for years it's really quite ****.
I feel like this occasionally but then realise they had to start somewhere. If we were asked what the weakest area of the team was back in October we would have all said defence. Wholesale changes to the squad can be really unhealthy. Granted I'm desperate for another striker because we know Wilson is going to get crocked.
If we want any hope of beating the likes of West Ham/Manure to a top 7 finish, we need to sign at least two quality players, or else we'll be top 10 at best. If we sign 1 more player of the likes of Maddison or Paqueta, then I'd say 8th, but if we sign no one else then it's a battle for 9/10th, and risking losing Bruno as he'll be bought for 60m. I don't see why we can't just break bank and pay the 50m-60m for Paqueta or Maddison. Maddison got 12 goals and 11 assists last season as a CM. That's crazy stuff, no wonder Leicester have rejected. We don't need dubz so offer 50m + DUBZ or 60m and get it over with, pronto.
We're just going to have to accept he fact that if we want to sign players of that quality we're going to have to pay over the valuation. Why would Leicester sell their best player for Market value? 45m + Dubz and see what happens.
I see you've found £5m value in the last 4 minutes... you'll go far On a serious note, I honestly am pretty calm about it all, and don't think for second that Bruno will be sold - I don't think anyone would even approach us. Yes, we do need a couple, and I think Maddison has sailed, however, they'll get a couple, and we'll go again in January.
I thought the 2nd bid for maddison was 50m, but it turns out it was 45m. So before we offer more cash, maybe 45m plus dubz? or just 50m if we really wanna keep dubz.
The progress they have made, if looking at it from a normal business point of view, is astonishing in such a short space of time. You're looking at new MD, new CEO, new DOF, new Manager, new coaching team. An entire new defence with someone with real star power added to the midfield. High level, high quality backroom staff with bags of experience. A huge temporary upgrade to the training ground. Some much needed TLC to the stadium. And more importantly than anything they've brought back the ability for us to hope and dream of the future.
Hit the nail on the head. I'm buzzing with our progress. We were a shell of a club before they took over. Yes, I'd like more signings but we have made mega progress. It hasn't even been a year!
Agreed with the slow and stead process, but the reality is our team doesn't look that different from last season. To be fair we did sign a tonne in january. I didn't expect to sign world beaters and have a whole new side, but I'm disappointed we couldn't get another forward player. If we don't sign at least one more quality player we should be disappointed.
I don't get this stuff. There's almost no way we're going to replicate the second half of last season. People now know about Bruno, they already know about ASM and, sadly, have Wood already worked out. There's no surprise coming against Newcastle, I think we're going to be reasonably easy to play against. I wouldn't worry if I was a top 6 or 7 team facing us, and if you're lower you'll know we want to try and play with the ball but have counter-attack players which isn't a good mix. They'll just sit and let us have it, knowing we've got **** all creativity as long as they keep Bruno and, to a lesser extent, ASM quiet. Give it a few games and Howe will be trotting out the same lines of "didn't do enough in the final third" of the last umpteen managers. Wow, you don't say - who knew that not buying decent attackers wouldn't be helpful. I'm nervous for this season.
Being reported we have only 40m to spend this window: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...ay-continue-limit-Newcastle-number-years.html
