    Match Preview;
    So much promise going into the first game. New management team, with a new approach and the promise of new, attractive football. All looked good for 30 minutes then back to same old same old...and nothing changed. According to the stats I saw, we had more possession yet not a single shot on target. Not good enough.

    One solution that has been suggested/hoped for/grappled onto is that Chris Willock's return will spark some attacking creativity. Here's hoping.

    I think it is potentially a bit naive and overly optimistic to hope for a huge change in Beale's first competitive game. As much as friendlies are useful, they aren't competitive, which leaves us with the constant dilemma with a new manager. That said, just read through the Blackburn match thread and for all but the first 30 minutes it was same old Rangers. I'm tempting to say we need to give him ten games, but if we lose all of those ten games the season is all but over. I can understand, however, that time is needed to work out how to set the team up, particularly with the new signings.

    I'll add a potentially controversial thought to provoke discussion. I'd drop Dykes, or at least add someone alongside him. He's scored 20 in 76 games and all too often having him on the pitch means we just punt it forward and hope to pick up the scraps after he wins the aerial battle. Playing him alongside Tyler Roberts or Chris Willock would surely maximise the effect of his aerial presence. Thoughts?

    Team News
    QPR: Chris Willock, Tyler Roberts and Luke Amos are all pushing for return

    Middlesbrough: Paddy McNair will return, with Dael Fry also pushing for a start

    Pre-match Talk
    Mick Beale (QPR head coach): “It will be a tough game; they’ve got a very good team – a team of men.

    “We’re really looking forward to it – it’s important that we play on the front foot and entertain the crowd against a team who will meet us on the halfway line. This will be a good game.”

    Chris Wilder (Middlesbrough manager): “QPR is a tough place to go especially when its atmosphere gets going but we must puncture that, but hopefully the competitive aspect of the team will shine through, it will be a difficult afternoon.

    “If we want a good season then we must be competitive in every game especially on our travels and that starts at Loftus Road.”

    As always, enjoy those who'll make it to headquarters and...COME ON YOU SUPER HOOPSA!!

    Nope, 27 games in two years. He started so well for us, but that happens so often doesn't it. I remember so many players who start playing blinding football then it fades. A few who immediately spring to mind are Tony Scully, Doudou and Tony Thorpe. Hope his form picks up as he seemed promising for us.

    Surprised it's only 27. I thought he was almost ever-present for a couple of seasons

    0-1. Like most of our games will be until we buy/loan a striker.
    At that point I'll consider investing in a ST. Not before.

    Plus the opening of The Stan Bowles stand, shame they've ****ed up the standing area as a full house would've been beneficial. I think the Bowles family is gonna be there too so hopefully they'll be alot of noise for a change. R Block should be rocking , just need the geriatrics in the Loft to stagger to their feet now :emoticon-0138-think

    The Ellerslie Road toilets are a surviving example of what sanitation was like in the late C19th. I should think Stan's relatives have said, you're not putting his name to the stand with facilities like that.
