These are my thoughts on the world power situation based on recent serious issues brought into play over the last few days. The U.S. is clearly on the naughty step as far as Russia is concerned by their unwavering support of Ukraine, in that they are the main supplier of deadly weaponry, but now they have entered a new more serious point in time with the visit of Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan despite threats from China should the trip go ahead - and it did. To add more fuel to the fire the assassination of the Al-Qaeda leader has now set up a potential situation whereby they have been rattled enough to plan major retaliations against the U.S. mainland or at least against other American targets overseas as they have in the past. Let's now extrapolate these 3 situations and look at the possible ramifications because we now have some dynamics that may play out in various ways and none of them look too pretty. Al-Qaeda will certainly want to hit back more than Russia and China due to the fear of world war but now they have a willing partner to carry out their dirty work without fear of directly being accused of provocation. Would China or Russia attack the U.S. by using, and arming, Al-Qaeda personnel without compunction or thought of where it might lead? Just think what could happen if Russia supports European terror campaigns using well known organizations and China was to do the same on American infrastructure with Al-Qaeda. Currently we have 2 countries that are more than willing to disturb world order without a thought to humanity and now we have a disturbed terror group as a potential deliverer of mayhem under the direction of Russia and China. On a slightly different tack we must remember the idiot in North Korea waiting to flex his missile capabilities at the drop of the right hat and perhaps China could up his ante by supplying stuff more than capable of hitting North America. In case you haven't noticed the countries in question always blame someone else for bad stuff and how easy would it be for Beijing to claim the rockets were fired by a trigger happy Kim Jong-un? A re-invented Al-Qaeda mixed with 2 + 1 countries also involved makes me shiver for the possibilities especially when you consider the top 2 aggressive communist regimes are already playing war games to give a poke in the eye to the West and awaiting our combined responses. Russia - Already invaded Ukraine and have a Putin led campaign to bring terror to ex-Soviet republics flexing their independence. Do they have the potential to supply and support terror groups that have already infiltrated Europe such as the ones who hit Paris a few years ago? We know these cells are still active in planning attacks but could Putin use them to further his territorial gains? China - They have been sabre rattling for years to bring Taiwan back into the fold (much as Putin has been doing for years) and I would expect that scenario to play out in the coming months or years. The Pelosi visit has pissed them off big time as they have threatened a military response, but quite what form that will take remains to be seen. By the way the threatening video of Chinese military showing their might as part of this sabre rattling looks very much the same as the one I saw in Auckland, New Zealand a few years ago at a Chinese restaurant on the national holiday. North Korea - Unknown quantity but their hatred of the U.S. is well known and I think they would love the chance to show their trapped population that they are a world player as they have been told all their lives. Al-Qaeda - They must be licking their wounds after the assassination but would be willing to use any support they can muster to attack U.S. and I would suspect that the lines are buzzing between the desert and Beijing and Moscow right now coming up with the next world shattering mayhem. Where will all this hatred and warmongering end?
It’s hard to believe that a country with a president with questionable mental faculties, who made such a total balls up of their retreat from Afghanistan, and whose popularity at home is rock bottom would choose to antagonise the Chinese by sending the vile Pelosi over to Taiwan EDIT - She went without the blessing of Sleepy Joe and co apparently. Then the penny dropped The mid term elections are coming in the US and the Democrats are desperately trying to repair all of the harm they’ve overseen over the past 2 years and the 2 million illegals they’ve allowed into the country via the southern border for starters. Whether the Chinese will side with Russia and ‘punish’ America in some way as the rhetoric threatens remains to be seen, but personally I think it’s yet another ill judged decision by America There are so many potential terrorists at large within the US that an internal major attack can’t be ruled out And in addition - There are also apparently around 25,000 - yes you read it correctly, 25,000 Jihadi's under some form of security surveillance in the UK alone. If that doesn't scare you then it ought to.
Where did it all go so wrong angelic? I have never been able to understand why anybody would want to kill yet alone try and destroy our world in the process because it's the only place capable of sustaining life. When I watch anything to do with the U.K. and policing I am truly scared at what has happened in my birth country and the people who want to blow it up all seem to have entered to have a better life, which clearly is not the intent of the 25,000 you mention. How were they allowed to come there? As far as Pelosi is concerned it would appear she did not have the approval of Biden but many Republicans supported her move. Watching her come down the steps of the plane it looked like she was not going to make it and perhaps she learnt that move from Joe himself - lol. Perhaps the U.S. needs to put an upper age limit on presidential candidates, or at least check their sanity. As an afterthought, what if Putin was to support and use those 25,000 to wreak havoc on the U.K.?
other than that its been a lovely day up here in southport, an afternoon in the beer garden and an indian tonight, damned if i am going to worrry about things way beyond my control, so have a great evening guys and enjoy the moment,

My sentiments exactly. Been to Weymouth on the train tiday with my 2 grandchildren, life doesn't get any better. Life is far to short to worry about something you can't influence.
It's one of my best childhood memories being in Weymouth as a lad and in today's hectic troubled state it evokes thoughts of the wonderful days of yore. Let's hope common sense prevails and the horrors of what's happening will vanish into rose coloured air.

We were along the coast in Seaton last weekend with 8 year old grand daughter. Really nice and relaxed although the town itself could do with a bit of TLC. Afternoon ride on the tram, one of which is is Bristol Tramways colours and driven by an old school mate of mine. Happy, nostalgic days.

Going to overnight in Southport in a few weeks on our way to the Lake District Also spent many happy days in Weymouth too and went there during lockdown when several cruise ships were anchored off Portland

In the early mid 50's used to get the train from Castle Cary was 2 tracks then! Walk to beach and get an icecream .. a cone with a wrapped lump of icecream you peeled the paper off and put in cone! Sat on beach Grandparents in deck chairs Parents left at home doing the cafe!!! .. used to be a bloke built sand castles against the wall near clock tower where we told " if you get lost go there and wait" ... walk back to train bought winkles in a paper cone .. on train Grandmother would then dish out a hat pin to each to get them out of shells ... somewhere x miles there must be a midden of empty shells!!! ladies wearing hats with pins in and men in shirts wearing a hat on the beach was a norm! caught a bass on the pier with a home made cane rod and home made hook from safety pin hook and a garden worm! Crowd appeared as I tried to lift it ... pin straightened .... and dissapointment.................. I was about 6
Thanks for the tips mate ! We’re staying in the Preimer Inn on Marine Drive so we shall be glad of a walk and an explore of the place once we get there, and beers are always gladly accepted when I’m not driving
