Late back but managed to avoid all talk of the game and watch the recording. What a rollercoaster of a game. Emotions all over the place. What a bunch of cracking footballers! They stuck to it, didn’t lose heart when the equaliser came and clawed their way back like true lionesses. Terrific to see the white shirts of England win a major trophy. Proud of the team and management - a great day for football and a great day for womens football - all these girls should be proud of what they have done for every young girl wanting to play football. Can’t help feel the party will be very messy! Enjoy girls. Enjoy!
Well done the lionesses, did the country proud and bigger influence on the game than you probably realise. A celebration that's been 56 years in the making, so proud.
Copied from elsewhere Men: Its coming, its coming ....Footballs coming home. Women : 56 years later FFS I'll get it myself
I'm on a London bus tour with the grandchildren. Currently stuck at Trafalgar Square with all the celebrations going on.
Yes, very good. This morning, social media has been full of women attacking men. Why can't they just enjoy the moment?
Just been listening to a female presenter suggesting there is gender inequality between what Premiership players get and what top professional female footballers get. She needs to get real from a commercial sense. Women's football is on the rise, but it has a long way to go to match the following for men's football. When it does, then talk about gender equality
Maybe at the age of 6 you weren't able to play in the school team, even though you were deemed good enough. Maybe at 11 you weren't able to play football at all at school at all and had to play hockey Maybe you got a chance to play competitive games in your youth and I wasn't Col. Yes there is resentment in this post...an awful lot of resentment...maybe a lifetime of resentment that has just bubbled through
But aimed at men in general on social media. That's my point. I absolutely acknowledge that women were discriminated against Beth. Hopefully the magnificent Lioness victory will really open things up.
Oh look. It's the WUM. What's it like having me living inside your head? You cry about me being rude to you, which I wasn't and then get all keyboard warrior. What a tool you are (rude enough for you?).
OK, I haven't seen much of that (anti-men stuff), but accept your word; (but there has also been a bit of women get back to the ironing on here though too). My triumphalism and my scorn is based entirely on my own experiences. I do not blame men (I love men...well most of them). I have been accepted by most people here and elsewhere as someone who is knowledgeable about the game. But when you (and others) and I tussle over tactics or a certain player, I will always add that I have never played/coached the game and so there are finesses in the game that I do not quite get....It is a sad part of my life I am not here to "oogle" at the players legs, football is a very very serious and important part of my life. The lioness win last night was very very important to me and to the country men and women. They may not be as good as the men...but they were better than all the other teams in the competition. I would have been just as excited if the men had beaten Italy. But I will probably even more excited and over the top and unbearably triumphant if QPR win the championship. Maybe this explains it...
