We aren't getting Maddison and for the prices quoted I'd prefer Pacquetta.

I'd be happy with Werner but am not entirely sure what role he fills, I'd worry we'll play him as a central forward and he'll just disappoint.

Controversially I'd be happiest with Cornet. He fits exactly into a role we need, his numbers were good last season in the premiership (his first season and one where he went off to AFCON midway through iirc), and the price is very good.

I reckon if we'd signed him directly from Lyon then people would be raving about it, the fact he will be coming via a relegated Burnley shouldn't matter. As you say, he scored a fair few and was away for a bit.

Would still like Broja/Sesko

Paqueta/ Maddison though

They want 60 and Newcastle offered 40... Have newcastle done or said anything to suggest they'll spend such huge amounts?
I don’t know mate. We spent 40 on Bruno. If we bid 50m would LCFC accept.

I think they might. Having said that they want 85m for Forfana.

I think if the player is interested which it has been quoted he is then a deal can be done.

LCFC have peaked.

Cornet was very good for Lyon, including scoring against Man City when Lyon knocked then out in the QF of the Champions League. Versatile (he's played LB, LW and RW).

He moves to England at 24 and in a relegated Burnley team he scores 9 goals in 26 games from the wing. That was his first season in the EPL, I think he's a darn sight better than Murphy or Fraser and probably better than Almiron.

I think he gets into positions others don't manage and all fans see on highlights reels are missed chances.

If you want to chat about missed chances, you can't look much further than Werner.

Everyone seems to be buzzing because he's coming from Chelsea. He gets in the right positions at least, which Miguel struggles with.

Werner 4 goals in 21 games playing up front for Chelsea = amazing

but

Cornet 9 goals in 26 games playing on the wing for Burnley = rubbish

apparently

NUFC fan logic.

Season before that, Werner got 6 in 35.

Werner could easily regain confidence and become clinical like he was before.

He has been absolutely ****e in England

It's why a loan makes sense

Chelsea have offered 26-year-old Germany striker Timo Werner to Spanish side Real Madrid. (Marca)

Newcastle United have made an enquiry about 24-year-old Leicester City and England winger Harvey Barnes, having had a bid for his compatriot and Foxes playmaker James Maddison, 25, turned down by the East Midlands club. (Mail)

Oh he's a quality player who will surely come good again somewhere, Chelsea have developed a habit of trashing forwards.

I just find the comparison to Cornet interesting.
