****ing spot on.

If folk has listened to Corbyn, we'd already be renationalising the public utilities as we speak and these ****ing leeches who are creaming off vast wealth for themselves would have been booted into touch

But the IRA or something ...
Last time most of them were Nationalised they became a drain on society and certainly didn't make massive profits.
Many privatisations have failed and had to be bailed out by the Government too so not all a success.

British Rail was a notoriously poorly run outfit, but the latest 'nationalised' franchise which was the East Coast Mainline that got taken out of private hands for being ****ing crap, was actually a roaring success when it was renationalised. so much so that the Govt hastily handed it back to the private sector because they didn't want the public to see how efficient a nationalised railway could be.

Also the idea of a nationalised industry isn't to make massive profits. It's about making enough to reinvest to maintain and improve the service, and to keep costs for consumers at an affordable level. The vast profits we see private companies making isn't something to celebrate imo, because the vast bulk of that gets syphoned off for executive pay and bonuses and dividends for shareholders.

Rail tickets are so high in the UK because the likes of you and me are paying for some ****er CEO to buy another luxury Yacht

Not true mate, yes they get well paid but the vast majority get's ploughed back in to keeping the infrastructure in tact.
A ride on a train is not just a pleasant trip with a driver and a guard, the vehicles and track need constant repairs/maintenance including bridge repairs and vegetation control.
The cost of this is enormous.

I've signed up for this. **** it, enough is enough.

If they can get 1 million people to sign up, and pledge to withhold their energy payments for 28 days from Oct 1st then it will force the energy companies and the Govt into action.

https://dontpay.uk/
This is okay for you. Once your 28 days are up you can just square them up what you owe.

You are sharing this link and many people will put themselves in financial difficulty through stuff like this.

The people who are in financial difficulty will be in financial difficulty regardless of whether they sign up to this or not. The 28 days thing is when the energy company will contact you and demand payment. If you can’t pay, then legally they have to offer you a structured payment plan. But the point is to try and force some change so that people aren’t in dire straits in the first place simply trying to meet their bills

Well clearly it’s not in sync with ticket prices because network rail have just posted £500m profits for the first half of the year

Will they not be extra charges for missing their payment if they cancel their direct debit?

That really isn't going to help people already struggling.

Yeah charges will help get money off people that haven't got any lol....ffs......like pinkie states they will have 2 structure the payments where you can afford it........like any non legally binding contract it can be changed at anytime aslong as both parties agree and both parties will agree because they need your custom more than you need them

Profits up by 411% to £1.34bn

and that’s just for the first half of the year.

meanwhile ordinary working folk are facing massive hikes in their bills whilst these leeches are paying their shareholders some tasty dividends

no they really don't as the present cap is less than the cost of the fuel many/most households use .

We shall see....as always the proof will come from the people who say no more just like your poll tax and criminal justice Bill.....whilst most sat there apathetic some took action and the apathetic gained from doing nothing......very sad the very same people who have zero bollocks continued to do so ever since and expect others to take a risks

Really......u not seen the profits....no customers no profit
well i looked up EON as they are my present supplier and they made a loss of £110m in 2020 accounts which was the 3rd year running they have made a loss <laugh> and presumably much worse this year .
Think you may be thinking of the likes of BP and Shell who "produce" the fuel rather than the generating companies .

That really isn't going to help people already struggling.

The energy suppliers can’t add on extra charges in the form of fines for non payment.

What they will do is explore ways in which you can pay via a structured payment plan. If you then refuse to pay they would be within their rights to seek through the courts an order to cut off your supply.

But that whole process, especially if a million + people do it, would simply cripple their systems. So the idea is to force a change from Govt to either (1) keep the energy cap at an affordable price (2) levy the energy companies for a tax on their profits.

It’s not really the energy suppliers fault. They buy electricity / gas at the market rates. But when you have companies like Shell and BP posting profits of £11bn for half a year, whilst everybody else is being hammered with their bills and everytime they fill up, then somebody has to make a stand.
