I wanted Mbappe and Haaland.yeah Twitter.
Folk are crying like botched cost Messi and Neymar haven’t walked through the door yet.
I think Liverpool’s dealings to keep up with City have been fantastic. Not many have flopped. That was pre-klopp/edwards. We don’t count those years![]()
And I mean look at this list of player sales. Over half a billion. You guys have mugged off some teams for average players. That’s called the Liverpool tax.Not at all. But there is a fine line and need to be careful not to be seen as a club that is awkward to do business with.
it’s all hypothetical as no one knows the finer details.
We haven’t paid over the odds for players and we seem to be very good in the market last 4/5 years, but we also seem to have got good relationships with clubs which helps.
Bayern for example, there was lots of nice stuff said when we got thiago from them, and it means when it came to selling mane, both clubs had that good relationship and meant negotiations were a lot easier.
Similar with Fulham. We’ve effectively got 2 of their most promising youngsters from them for nothing, but instead of going to tribunal and forcing a low value, we’ve paid that little bit extra to keep relationships healthy, given them a loan player in the mean time etc.
same with RBL, weve got Keita and Konate from them last few years, built up a good relationship with them, played them in friendlies etc.
I wouldn’t say we particularly overpaid and obviously there was some negotiations but Liverpool are known to be a good club to deal with atm.
on other hand you always hear how spurs and levy were horrible to negotiate with when selling and buying players because so stubborn and that has to have an impact when going back to the club to try buy someone.
Like I say, Fine like between just giving clubs what they want, and being so stubborn you become awkward to deal with.

I think you don’t like Nickson much.Board - “so, Steve, what’s the latest scouting reports?”
Nickson - “there’s a couple of lads could be a decent shout.”
Board - “go on?”
Nickson - “young kid out of Germany has some potential, goes by the name of Jude Bellingham. Also found this up and comer in France, Mbappe. Should be able to do deals, but failing that I’ve heard of someone called Vlahovic who’s fairly decent.”
I think you don’t like Nickson much.

The only one I can recall from recent memory is the Minamino.

Ha ha, but he's been even more brilliant for us! Bruno cost up to £40m. He must be worth double that. £80m in January for a bunch that turned our form from 2nd bottom to 3rd top.Eddie Howe been brilliant for us. £19m for solanke. £6m for Brad smith. £15m for Ibe. Hoping he might come in for some more youth players

Fair enough the jury's still out on Wood's cost.
Thing is he took over in November, I wonder how much say he had in the January signings?
Not sure what structures like at Newcastle but maybe Bruno was lined up to come in despite Howe… now Howe has his feet under the table and is having more say, your struggling to get players because he’s just generally not very good at buying players?

That’s the reason we are not buying forward players. You have nailed it. HOWE is useless at identifying them.Eddie Howe been brilliant for us. £19m for solanke. £6m for Brad smith. £15m for Ibe. Hoping he might come in for some more youth players
It is.Just spotted a private jet coming in from Rome, Bellotti maybe? It can't be the Pope he's already here. Lol
