Undoubtedly a legend of the game, and certainly highly respected in Germany, Uwe Seeler, captain of the West Germany team of 1966 has died. His career was before my time but he's a player that I've long been aware of.

Pretty sure he played against England in 1954 as a 17 year old, soon after West Germany won the world Cup. Shack played in that game.
 
I could never forgive the brilliant little fecker for that "lucky" back header over Bonetti, ( who was imitating a statue at the time), in Leon 1970.

Great player though. RIP.
