Pushed ourselves through that. Great decisions by the England coach. Great team spirit. Not our best performance, but let’s hope it’s upward from here. Tough game, probably Sweden, ahead. Well done Lionesses.
Great win, Spain were the pretournament favourites. They lost their star player just before the tournament started though. As said earlier...Spain were the most physical team and the only team that really could tackle that I saw. England have seen them off...and the semi should be easier than this match Think the crowd really made the difference but Stanways goal was worthy of Ilias Chair. I think they will get to the final now...
Spain were very good and stopped England playing in the first half. Thought the game changed when their coach changed formation to try to hang on. He also should have played that really good forward, who came on late, from the off. In contrast, the England coach got her subs spot on and they really made a difference. 2nd half was pretty even, although England finished it the stronger and were the better side for most of extra time. If it's Sweden next, they're 2nd in the World I believe, so it won't get any easier.
Germany very lucky to be ahead 1-0 against unfancied Austria, who have hit the post twice. The Germans are the worst women's team I've seen for diving.
Austria played above expectations and gave Germany a few scares, but the Germans were comfortable winners in the end. Germany weren't great, but they showed once again that their physicality is superior to other teams in the tournament, including England I would suggest. I expect an England v Germany final and Germany to win, but I won't mind too much if I lose my bet.
