You only have to look at Ndombele and Pogba to see how difficult it is to asses what impact a player is going to have, it's always a lottery to some extent especially with young players.

THink of all the strikers we've signed who failed here. Same everywhere Torres, Shevchenko, Rebrov there's loads of them.i get what you mean…but not if you use these 2 wasters as an example
Fergie had it right with Pogba and his mentality first time round when he got rid of him - United ignored this lesson in life and resigned him regardless
Ndombele had previous for being an entitled waster…well documented by former team mates and coaches…we signed him regardless
Due diligence obviously not done quite as it should be regarding both…red flags everywhere
so we can get a good insight into what we are letting ourselves in for. Just like I can tell you right now that Richarlison is going to be a fans favourite.

a few key positions still need filling with quality this summer imo
so far 7.1/10

Excellent window so far and 6 in halfway through preseason is superb but we need 2 more to make it a 9 for me.
Would love Maddison and that Ukrainian CB Zabarnyi.
I think Spurf is right in that it really is a lottery most times as to whether a player will turn out good.
You can have the quality and skill and still be ****, just see Ndombele and Lo Celso.
You can have the attitude and work rate and still be ****, just see Winks and Soldado.
Feels like you need the perfect combination of quality, skill, attitude, work rate, mentality, tactics of manager, understanding of language, good surrounding teammates and likely many other factors in order to be a success. It’s where the good scouts/ DoF’s/ coaches get paid the big bucks to try and find or develop players perfect for their manager.
i bet Perisic has zero issues settling down and making his mark
just look in them eyes
then have a look at Ndombele
feel like slapping him everytime I see his mug
A lot of it goes back to the Yugoslavian system, or to be more specific where the academies were locatedThe recent generation of Croatians are/ were just a different breed in general. For a relatively small country, they produced a national team of unreal ballers. From a technical aspect especially, some of the best around.
Modric, Kranjcar, Perisic, Rakitic, Brozovic… all just technically brilliant players.

Just read that Tanganga to Milan could be a loan with option to buy but Spurs will have a buy back clause written in to the deal.
